Been active on another forum for a while but this site is probably more relevant. As it turns out my Z4 is a UK import - used to live around Beaconsfield by the look of the Satnav history.
2.5Si with M seats, suspension, steering wheel and Sport button, Satnav etc... Carbonblack with the brushed aluminium trim.
Been a cold wet winter here, so really looking forward to getting her out over the coming summer.

Welcome aboard, lovely lookin Zed - nice black and white rear plate (can you get away with that cos its an import?)

Very nice. Where are you based? How does the import process work, simple enough to import UK cars?
Thanks. About 25 years ago the Govt dropped import taxes on cars (as we don't have a local assembly industry anymore), so importing cars became very cheap - 95% (or more) of our cars are Jap imports since they are geographically close and their local/domestic version cars are usually really highly specced (WRX STI RA, anyone..?). When our dollar was riding high a couple of years ago it made UK imports quite attractive for the Euro brands (BMW, Audi, MB etc). I'm glad I found my Z4 as the UK import allows me to throw in a local cd/dvd for satnav and away I go, whereas the Jap imports need about $1000 or more worth of conversion to get it going (not that I use the satnav much, but when you get a car you want ALL of the features to work). I don't think they ever got the Si versions either.
I'm based in Christchurch.
Only thing I'm a bit disappointed about is that the dealer gave the 135M 18" wheels to someone else, but at least mine are easier to clean..

The black & white plate is standard issue here. I contemplated paying a bit more to get a Euro plate (wider - fits the gap much nicer) but never got around to it - always something else to spend money on

Nice black roadster - the choice of the discerning Zed owner.

Good to see that the reputation of black roadster owners posting pics strIghtaway has extended half way round the world!

Enjoy :driving:

Antarctica, did you say

Great to hear about Zeds in other parts of the world

Those mountains look impressive in the background :D

Do you have any twisty interesting roads where you are?

Looks more like Tekapo than Antartica to me - I should know, I used to live in Beaconsfield :P

Hah! It's felt like it recently, and we're the step off point for most Antarctic missions not deploying out of South America. I was offered a 5 month posting to Antarctica but turned it down as I was only just back from Iraq (one extreme to the other...). I really wish I'd taken it now as the opportunity never came up again.

Well spotted! Church of the Good Shepherd, Tekapo. It's only a couple of hours drive south of where I live and is a beautiful part of the country. If you lived in Beaconsfield between 2008-2012 you might have seen my car in its old stomping grounds
