Quick favour - possible missing trim

I have just had my car in at BMW for some squeaks and rattles. They have sorted the problems but when I got in this morning I noticed the roof trim had these two squares missing at the hinges and I can't for the life of me remember if this is normal or if they have forgotten to put the trim back on?

Can one of you just pop out and check for me. Either I am going mad or they forgot to put in the trim:

Cheers.

Its normal... ... and I thought I was a fault picker. The gaps have to be there otherwise when the roof folds the mechanism would damage the roof.

Dammit. How have I been climbing into the car every day for nearly two months and not noticed this but the day after it is back from the dealer I see them? I need help.

Thanks. :D

I agree it could be seen as a missing piece though, its the one area in the cabin that I've thought they could have come up with a better solution rather than a gaping hole. Thankfully its behind you so you hardly ever notice it... and for cars with the anthracite headlining its hardly noticeable at all (I prefer the cream headlining though, it makes the car feel light and airy.

I'm surprised there isn't some sort of sliding panel there, and shifts out of the way as part of the folding process.

I never noticed this, I think my roof lining is black. i like the 'view out of a postbox' effect. :D

The anthracite (or black) rooflining is standard on the M sport, the rest have the light grey headlining exept for the cars with the White Design Interior which come with a cream headling and does give a lightness to the interior. Shame we haven't had much of the sky blue rooflining this summer.
