I'm coming to the end of my current bottle of QD which is Chemical Guys Pro Detailer, just wondering if there's anything better out there.

I'm currently using Dodo Juice Red Mist which leaves a very wet look on my red car, good stuff.

Zaino Z8 Grande Finale! Not cheap and is designed after washing only not to remove light dust..... but WOW!

To be honest I struggled to see any benefit from using it :o

I think car colour has a lot to do with it mate. The silver cars are hard to make look wet if you know what i mean. :headbang:

Halfords have a 2 for 3 offer on at the moment - I bought some of the megs quick detailer, does what it says on the tin - I also picked up some summer essential autoglym bug remover and some bird poop wipes while I was at it...

I've got the same coulour car as you, I've found the best way to get a good shine on it is with a combination of chemical guys wet mirror finish

Topped of with XXX hardcore wax

The great thing is with this wax (and many others) is that when it rains the rain just rolls of taking the dust/fallout with it - same goes if your car is simply dusty not dirty you can just hose the dust off...

I'd be careful with those bird poop wipes. I bought the bug remover ones and used them once before giving them away to my sister. They seem quite harsh, like they're scratch the paint and they leave an obvious residue. I just carry some Megs QD and a microfibre cloth in the boot, ready for those pesky bird poops.

I like Meg's Quick detailer as well for bird poop, etc. For plain old dust, either hose it off or I've even used a California Duster (just don't use this on a hot car in the sun--the beeswax that makes it pick up dust will melt onto your car).

Serious Performance QD is the best i have used so far leaves a nice gloss http://www.seriousperformance.co.uk/Products,78,toView_337.html

Like Megs LT for that quick spruce up if i am out with the car and want to remove brake dust but after a wash i always use SP QD on the paintwork

Personally speaking I've never used the QD to remove dust. If the cars dusty I'll give it a quick wash. I normally just give it a quick spray when I've not got time for a proper polish.

Thanks for the tip, I bought them because the other day a seagull dropped a load on my car that had just been cleaned - I was about 50miles from home and the only thing I had to wipe it off was an expensive deep pile microfibre polishing cloth - the poop was massive and stinky so the cloth ended up in the nearest bin :(

I guess the bug ones are impregnated with the same stuff thats in the spray bottle version - it says on the back that it can stain if the residue is not wiped off, but if it does stain to wipe the area again witha mix of cleaner and a damp cloth - maybe it's the same for the bird wipes? - did you let the cloth soak into the bugs? maybe the scratches came from hard bugs rubbing across the paint?

I guess scratches could also come from the bird poop itself being quite acidic (maybe alkaline?) and also quite abrasive. I will try a clean wipe on an inconspicuous area (under the boot or somewhere) and let you know how it affects the paint sans poop...

I didn't actualy scratch the car with them, I just used one lightly as the feel of the cloth/wipe was a bit rough. The residue even from a light wipe was annoying enough. Might aswell have an old microfibre ready to use and spray of your choosing to wipe off bugs/poop. I didn't see much point if you have to follow up the wipe with a cloth of somesort to wipe of the residue.
