Quick Battery Recommendation

Hi Folks,

My battery has been onits way out for some time and need to get a new one prompto!

Anyone suggest a good battery replacement? I see there are three types on Halfords website, lead, calcium and silver. Do I need a silver one? Is there a specific BMW one I need?

My car is a 56 plate 3.0si, not that old but doesn't get used regularly which I presume is what has done the battery in.

After a few dodgy starts recently the car wouldn't start today at the car wash, thankfully someone was on hand to give me a jump start so time for a new one me thinks!

Feedback appreciated

Thanks in advance

James

I fitted the calcium from Halfords as the correct replacement. Came with a 4 year guarantee which nobody else offered.
Used it for 6 months before I converted to a race battery, so an expensive spare sat in my garage now.

Halfords is a good bet, I bought a Bosch one for my VW from Halfords the same one that fits my Z4 with a 5 year guarantee

I did the same.
The Bosch silver battery is £126, but you get a 5-year guarantee and it fits perfectly.

You can get a BOSCH S5 with 5 years guarantee for £103 at eurocarparts at normal price, but they currently have 15% off all batteries which makes it £87 delivered. No brainer!

Thanks for the tips everyone, especially TomTVR, that is a no brainer!

One S5 battery under the tree for me

Happy Christmas All!

Someone mentioned to me that some type of diagnostic reset needs to be done when putting a new battery in is that true? I had presumed they were no different to any other car and I could just swap a new battery in? Anyone heard of this?

This is true for some BMW models but not on the Z4.
