Hi Zedfred and welcome to the Forum.

I loved my 2.0 litre Zed - great fun to rev out through the gears - surprisingly capable - you'll have fun.

There are far more knowledgeable members on the forum than me who might be able to comment on some of your questions but I offer the following thoughts:

Haven't heard anything on the forum about gear change indicators. The 2.0 litre engine is smooth and free revving and so your likely to hit the rev limiter in first and second so the rev counter needs to be watched until you get used to changing up. I would think that most of the owners on the forum get used to changing up at the appropriate and most effective time - it's a question of experience of the qualities and delivery of the engine. In my 2.0 litre I was always in the lower gears at higher revs to have as much of the Zed's performance on tap when I needed it. That's true of any Zed but with the 2.0 litre more important on a sprited run. It was surprisingly efficient if you changed up early but had little performance in the higher gears when driven that way.

What type of tyres do you have - if your Zed still has runflat tyres which are fitted as standard on the Zeds (except on the M versions) then changing them to ordinary non runflats will improve the ride on the poor British roads. The Zed tends to follow the contours of the road (called tramlining) with runflat tyres fitted and it took me some time to get used to the steering on the Zed after owning an MX5.

Owners on the forum have had problems with the rear springs breaking and often replace the bushes on the suspension to improve the handling of the Zed. Have a read through some of the posts to learn more before considering changing shock absorbers - unless they are absolutely shot of course.

Good luck with your Zed!
