Questions on the 28i

Was just hoping someone could clear up a few questions I have. I know very little about these about these cars as I've only just started looking into them.

I've seen online that the car was given a facelift/update during 2013, does this include 13 plates or just 63? Also what was updated with this facelift? (anyway to tell them apart?)
Are there any options I should look out for? I want to get the manual.
I'm leaning torwards a facelift car and was wondering if there are common issues with the 28i's from 2013 onwards that I should look out for?

Thank you. Apologies for knowing nothing.

Biggest changes from the outside is the side indicators changing to chrome instead of white plastic although many have changed these so hard to tell that way.
The side lights changed to led and are whiter than earlier models but some have added led bulbs to change them to white although the 2 rings will not look equally as bright as each other.
The interior air vents have a gloss black surround around them where the earlier models dont.

The headlights are different as well, lci cars also use an electronic waste gate as opposed to the earlier pneumatic one.

Production date for LCI was 4/13 onwards in various markets..

Its just a little more difficult to visually see those changes. The indicators built into the headlights are different but unless you see them side by side its difficult to notice.

I guess if your particularly looking for an lci model you will need to be pretty careful as even cars registered 15/16/17 may be late registered pre lci

Personally I wouldn't bother to look for a LCI version..the one obvious change that most people like is the side repeater design, you can retrofit those in 30 minutes for around £100 ish..

I would focus on spec/colour/condition/mileage in that order..

Obviously depends what your budget is...plus of course buying a 20i may give you a lot more choices as around 10 times more of those were sold in the UK vs 28i.

A simple re-map (for around £450) gets to you either 28i power or a bit more (30bhp ish) if you so choose..

I was more leaning torwards the LCI as I assumed they'd be in better condition/more reliable. I'm definitely open to looking into the pre LCI cars though. Thanks for the tip of the 20i, there's plently of them for sale compared and 180 is still more than enough for me. Are there any options that I should look out for? All I'm focusing on right now is colour and milage, cheers.

Bit of info on the 2litre turbo engines here for you

People tend to fall into two camps on options.. don't care and fully loaded

Parking sensors/heated seats/better audio/navigation computer/cruise control/extended usb bluetooth support/ wind deflector are the key ones IMHO in that sort of order.. wheels you can sort out later / msport tend to be preferred by most people for minor styling reasons

After the event fitting of most options is very complex technically and expensive..

The 8 speed auto box, IMHO, is a real honey and with a re-map is almost the perfect combo..

Some people (Smartbear) would disagree// but the 8 speed box is a world away from normal auto slush boxes

I can see the appeal of the 8 speed auto, even with my racing sneakers on i can’t change gear that fast :P
