Question Regarding Rear Apron

Along the bottom of the rear apron, the very bottom bit that curls, and towards the end furthest from the exhaust, I noticed a slight bend. Is this normal? At first I thought I had stumbled across some damage that I didn't realize was there, but I only see the bend in the surface and not on the underside or the edge etc. It also looks very neat and there is no paintwork damage. Is this a feature?

Let's put it another way. Run your hand along the bottom part of the apron starting at the end with the exhaust cutaways, and as you get towards the other and, does it suddenly make a slight turn?

Hope this makes sense, if not I will post a photo.

yeah.. am sure I know what you mean... I noticed the same.. it's normal

Post a pic and I will confirm!

I'm going to post pics of my car tomorrow so I will do a special close up of this. I am wondering if it's a manufacturing fault that was never seen. The paintwork is perfectly OK as is the underside of the apron where it runs flat against the underside of the car, with no signs of creasing or damage in any way. It kind of looks OK but at the same time I think it's slightly odd. On your car, does this part simply curve all the way from the exhaust end to the other end in a steady curve, or does the last bit on the RHS suddenly take a more angled curve for the last foot or so?

PS My car is March '05 3.0iSE

Thanks for the quick response by the way, you guys should be in bed!

It is normal. You would have a bend on the exhaust side too, but because of the cutout for the exhaust it's just not there.

Yep, I confirm, normal. I noticed mine the other day and freaked a little  lukily for me there is another z4 that parks near where I work so I pulled up next to his/her car and took a peak. Same thing there.

Aebous,

I'd be very circumspect about reaching under strangers aprons in a parking lot.
