Question on kitchens (not spam!)

Update on this if it helps anybody and just to finally say it's happening! Kitchen ordered through John Lewis and currently sat in a flat with no heating or hot water due to the boiler being moved and now not operating. Warm compared to NYC though where I was all last week, so can't complain too much.

Anyway, floor tiles down, walls and ceiling plastered, electrics sorted, appliances and wood work tops being delivered this week and base units being installed. Should be done in the next week and can't wait. Only thing left to do will be to add the wall glass either side of the kitchen and get cooking!

Last one we did we sourced our units from Homebase ( waited 4 months for the best offer to come round) - carcassses come flat packed, not built.
The worktops we got online - European Walnut staved.
The appliances we got from Homebase too, but sort of separately - as when the base unit deal finished (we had a quote valid for 28 days) they did a buy two appliances get one free deal going, and it worked out £500 cheaper than going online for best prices.
Got an indy kitchen fitter to fit after viewing his previous work.

We sold the flat shortly after and it was featured onA Place In The Sun

I would also agree with the wood thing - Varnish it if possible. We had issues not only with water around the sink, but worse cosmetically was when flour got on to the surfaces for any length of time ( I'm a right Mary Berry) it needed sanding and re-oiling.

Nice choice of units!

Ink$ it sounds like you have similar requirements to us when we recently embarked on our new kitchen project. We wanted white gloss units, white quartz/corian worktops and mid-range integrated appliances. So we ended up with Bosch (it's virtually identical to Siemens and Neff because they are part of the same group). We decided against AEG because they are now owned by Electrolux and quality has apparently taken a step backwards and we couldn't afford Miele unfortunately which would've been first choice. For units we looked at Howdens but their gloss is a bit dull frankly. We also looked at Magnet and almost went with them (their Integra white range) but decided in the end to go with a local company who get their units from a company called PWS. The units are well made, solid, ready assembled carcasses and we are pleased with the result. For worktops we went for a quartz product made by Silestone which was pretty expensive (about £3.5k) but we felt was worth it. In the pecking order it was a lot cheaper than corian but about the same as granite. It was finished about a week ago (apart from a glass splash back which is on back order). Couple of pics below.

Sorry to :hijacked: I'm in the middle of a kitchen remodel, and the misses loves your worktops :)
Do you remember what colour Silestone you used? Cheers

2 Dogs it was Blanco Norte IIRC

Thank you ink$ we are delighted with it. [emoji4] It's made such a difference to the house. Yours is shaping up very nicely too!! Your photos of drying plaster brought back memories. Can't believe it's 9 months since we embarked on all of the refurbishments!!

Yep. Lack of heating not assisting the drying process much buy nearly there. Appliances turn up today I think then the worktops. Can't wait for it all be done and just in time for Christmas.
