Question on Car Details on Registration Document (V5)

Hi, received my V5 (registration document) today, want to check the car details are correct. It says this:
D.1 Make: BMW
D.2 Type: ZR
D.3 Model: Z4 SDRIVE35I

I was expecting 'Type' to also be 'Z4' - as 'R' and '4' are next to each other on the keyboard, I worry someone's made a typo. Or maybe it's correct and 'ZR' means something completely different (if so what?) and is unrelated to 'Z4'?

Can anyone confirm please what the 'Type' is on your V5 (for an E89 Z4, preferably a 35i) - if mine is wrong I'd like to get it fixed sooner rather than later!

I think there are more important things to worry about in the scheme of things LOL. I mean whats the worst that would happen if it were wrong? :?

I can understand why he may be concerned. Having worked with organizations like NATO they can be especially picky about the documentation being exactly correct otherwise they will not register the car!

My docs are slightly different as D1 is make - BMW, D2 is Model/Type - Z4Sdrive351 Auto and D3 is body type - convertable.

Who registers their car with NATO..... we're not driving tanks!

yes there are far more important things to worry about, but even so, if it wrong it should be corrected
 
Just call DVLA- they will send out a new one. check with dealer. I would prefer to have correct documentation otherwise there may be a problem in the future.
 
I know some have suggested that you've better things to worry about, but personally I'd get this sorted.

It's something as silly and niggly as this that an insurance company might use to not pay out should the worse happen!

Having had 2 imported Eunos Roadster's (the Jap domestic market version of the UK Mazda MX-5) I know all about making sure the V5 says EXACTLY what the car actually is, and so getting insurance properly.

AlanJ - If you work overseas with NATO then you need to register your car as a vehicle owned by a NATO employee. At this point if your documentation is not perfect they will not register the car, which means you cannot get NATO plates, insurance, duty free fuel or park on the base!

X2 - I agree with Mike and David

Personally I have had to endure numerous "issues" over the years from various agencies, whether international, governMENTAL, or insurance Co's - all because the i's were not dotted or the t's were not crossed in the manner with which they prefer. IMHO, this little detail is the sort of thing an insurance company may exploit to dis-empower the customer and disable their right to claim if the worst were to happen.

Always get the little issues sorted so the big issues fall into place :wink:
 
Well I'd still love to know what agency is interested in 'vehicle type' when the make/model is 100% correct? As the victim over many years of MoD registration, hefty insurance claims, DWDCA etc.. my vehicles V5 has never been required or scrutinised by anyone. :?

And why hasn't someone checked their V5 to compare? I've no idea where mine even is LOL :oops:
 
My V5 also says "ZR" (as did the V5 for my old E85 Z4). I don't think it actually refers to the model name of the vehicle I think its actually a code used by the DVLA to identify the type of vehicle.
 
Thank you lazerium for actually answering the question :)

I spoke to dealer who didn't know the answer either (it's a field auto-filled-in by the DVLA, not one of the items the dealer tells them), but he checked against the V5s of the Z4s they have in stock and they say "ZR" too.

So I'll assume mine is correct and that it's just a secret code for DVLA internal use.

Yes I agree with the other replies that there are more important things to worry about - but from past experience even the tiniest mistake on a V5 can cause very big problems in the future, hence my concern to check it.

Lacroupade and ScottM - I did answer the original question in my first post which was the 4th response after the original question :poke:
