Question for the group

Hi - when I look at my new to me low mileage z4, it’s clear that the visible maintenance jobs like roof motors and abs etc haven’t been done - it’s booked in to zshed and they can be fixed in one day (very happy)

Things like paintwork and wheels can wait - but my question to the group is - what are the jobs on the engine that I should be looking for ? It’s low miles at 47k so I suspect that it hasn’t been serviced every year- what should I be looking for and checking under the bonnet ?

May help to state what model it is and post it in the relevant section ?

Post it in the E85/E86 section (or Mods may move it for you)
A potentially larger section of the forum will read it

Oh and welcome - better get some pics up of your car before the photo Police arrive

Welcome to the forum Chris.

You might want to ask Mike to check the rear brake pipes for corrosion. He replaced them on my previous E86 as I had MOT advisories for them 2 years running!

Your car will have the N52 engine that has an electric water pump which will die at some point causing overheating in less than a mile. The pump in my first E86 died at 60K miles, but my 2nd was on the original when I sold it at 91K so it's a bit of a lottery. But some people get them replaced to avoid being stranded, although they aren't cheap at £250/300 if you avoid BMW who charge £500+. :o

Anyway photos of you car would be nice!

Thank you fellas - pics on the way - so far I haven’t had it for many days and I keep finding new surprises - today I noticed that the reason that the front fog lights didn’t work - was because they aren’t there ….

That might be a good thing because they always seem to end up getting damp inside which ruins the reflectors.

And when was the last time you used front fog-lights?

If you have the offsets of the ebay ones and your ones
www.willtheyfit.com will tell you how they will sit in relation to each other. It's a great website for playing with wheels sizes/ offsets.

Added the Bluetooth module to the cd multi changer plugs in the boot today - what’s a lovely surprise - plug and play and bingo !

Has anyone got an iPhone 14 to work ? As a phone I mean
