Question for people with modded exhausts

Hi All,

So my question is:

What is that very strange vibrating-ish sound you hear start up as the engine revs back to idle.

Soon as the revs virtually return to idle, the vibration noise starts up, last about 2 seconds, then disappears, you can clearly see this in the video below (think its a member video)

I've noticed this on nearly all Z4 modded exhaust videos on youtube, same whether its a backbox delete or a secondary cat delete. I really want to mod my exhaust to make it louder, what ever method I go for, but I really don't like that sound you hear as the revs go back down to idle? Surely it cant just be me noticing this? Sounds like a fly's/wasp's wings flapping its wings against something if that makes sense lol.

Not 100%, but I think it's the result of a valve closing in the intake system, the name of which eludes me at the moment, but I seem to remember it also makes a noise just after turning off the ignition, as it's "released"

Oops, sorry about that spoilt =(, didn't meant too

Spoilt - Does yours also make that noise when switching engine off spoilt? I've not heard it when I switch mine off but then again I've got standard exhaust.

Does anyone know if that noise can be removed?

Remove it?? Earplugs?? :poke:

Jakblade what exhaust set up do you have then out if interest? Seems like everyone has this "negative" effect on YouTube videos

Haha once I've modded mine I wouldn't wanna remove it because I would want to keep loud noise lol

Mine probably doesn't do it because it's not really an extreme mod. Just a quad conversion with slight standard backbox internal fiddling. Not loud as such, just nice sound. I didn't want it to sound too "chavvy" but I'm looking into the the secondary CAT delete way of releasing a bit of that 6 cylinder symphony. Suppose want sound you're after is all about personal tastes.
This is sound clip of mine with no backbox at all not even any extension pipes just where the backbox was cut off. It doesn't appear to be making the noise even then.......confused.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kzZHJ181ims
Glad to be of no use whatsoever..

Haha no sweat, I'm on stock exhaust so same as yours. I'm starting to notice it on other videos.
