Question for 6' plus taller drivers

I love the M roadster and coupe, but I find the seating position doesnt work with my 6'2" height and 205 lbs. I'm not fat at all, but I have a hard time finding a comfortable seating setting that works.

One of the reasons I've put off a purchase.

Are there any suggestions from taller drivers out there on settings or what they have done to overcome this? I'd like to enjoy the car and drive it daily but cant see it working long term...

Depends on where your height is really. I am 6'1" without issues at all, but it is all in my legs :)
 
Im 6' with no issues, as pvr says depends where your height is, Im mostly legs....

and welcome to the forum :D
 
6'2", no problems here ! (done over 10k in the car and no issue).

Not really sure how much you can do over the top of the standard seating arrangement - what is the particular problem?
 
Thanks all for the fast replies...Got replies from 6 foots and 6'1"all will long legs... but noone 6'2" or taller can daily drive these cars?

I find when I adjust the seat it literally starts to bend as I try to get it to go back a little further and get an extra couple of inches out of the seating position.
 
What style of seat are you trying?
I'm 6'2" and can easily find a good position in my M seats. I'm a skinny sod though and do often wish for a bit more padding in the seat :oops:
I wouldn't say I've got most my height in my legs either, my father is a tad shorter than me but I can barely operate the pedals when using his seating positions in a car. I do tend to have the seat very low and seat fairly tilted back although I'm trying to sit more upright now.
 
I'm just over 6'2" and dont really have a problem with seating position. I found tilting the base of the seat upwards to support the thighs helped a lot and then move the seat slightly forward than you normally would to make some space to tilt back support backwards. The resulting seating posisiton is as if you are pointing slightly upwards and more of a racing position. Works for me... :driving:
 
I'm 6'3" and it's my biggest problem with the Z. To fit I basically have to sit bolt upright with my knee on the corner of the dash. Luckily only do a few hundred miles a month though so it (hopefully) won't cripple me permanently.

The mistake most people make is sitting too far back. You should put your foot on the dead pedal and move the seat forward until you can firmly brace yourself in the seat with your leg and stil have some bend in your knee; you should also have bend in your knee when depressing the gas or brake completely and firmly with your forefoot - not your toes. You should move the seatback forward until you can turn the steering wheel a half turn in either direction and still have a good bend in your elbow, 40-45 degrees or more; another guide is that your wrist should be able to rest on the 12 o'clock position on the steering wheel without your shoulders leaving the seatback. You also want a few inches clearance between the roof in case a sharp bump pops you up in the seat - ideally 4", but more is good.

Odds are, with the seat adjusted in this manner, you'll discover you have room to spare. You'll also be able to control the car better.
 
I'm 6ft 3", 15st - but a weight trainers body. I don't have that much of any issue, I found it more comfy to not have the seat all the way back but tilt it back a bit, then I kinda have my left foot flat on the carpet not the foot rest when crusing, hard to explain.

Obv the seat is set to as low as it can go too. Try moving the seat forward and at the same time recline it back and see if you find a comfy position.
 
I'm 6ft 5. I do not fit into the car if fitted with M Sport seats. They are curved at the rear and that extra inch or so of rearward and less bolstering mean I fit.

I'm not sure what seat options there are with the M models, but this is in the 'mk1' toadster.

This is where TVR excels - in both my old Chimaera and the T350 there was head and leg room to spare. Peter Wheeler is 6ft 6 you see...
 
I'm 6' 3.5" & 180lbs mostly legs and arranged the seating position to a workable location in my '03 Zed and its '07 replacement (non-M seat). I was very surprised that I even fit in the first place and it certainly helped the sale for the dealer. That said, I do still have mild trouble with my size 13 (euro 48) pedal mashers as there just isn't any extra room down in the footwell. I did get a nice set of Piloti driving shoes which help out considerably. Sometimes I wish I could get the steering wheel a little closer to me but manage to deal with it where it is. I can't imagine that it would fit someone at 6' 6" as I'm already looking through the top edge of the windshield at my height with the seat pretty much all the way down.

Ha Ha never had the bottle to bring this up!

It's one the pain of my Z4 experience and i'm only 6 ft 1!! I tested three Z's before parting with cash and werdly enough never seemed to have a problem with seating but if i'm 100% honest, never fiddled for more than a few secs...in too much a hurry to pilot! I find it's my left knee that's always cramped against the lower dash so I can't use the tilt and the seats square to the floor, after watching the Z4 Ultimate Factory on Discovery with the test driver explaining the proper seating position I adjusted my position which helped a little. So without the tilt I can sit the correct distance from the pedals, with tilt (I prefer this) I have to sit well back and bring the wheel forward. I have all three buttons prgrammed in for different moods with 1 being the correct one :driving: , the other two not so, kinda comfy and laid back... Oh and not being sexist but the other half doesnt drive it often enough for a memory slot.... :tumbleweed:

That being said, adore the car and it's not spoiling my fun, loving the weather and the winter work with Zaino is bearing fruit, lots of comments on the finish :D
