Just a quick question.

I am looking to breathe some new life into my 54 plate 2.2 zed by treating it to some new wheels (18")

I want BMW wheels and not any other make, but my question is this. Seeing as they will be official BMW wheels will I need to tell my insurance company, or don't they class as a modification. I'd rather not tell them if I don't have to but I don't want to be stung should anyhting happen.

Next question.... Anyone selling any 18" wheels out there........... :|

I would tell them anyway if you were to claim a they checked details tey may not pay out. But. when i changed my wheels i told my insurance company, they just put a note in my file sayin id changed them and it didnt cost me a penny more!

If you fit rims it could have left the factory with then there shouldn't be a need to tell them - they don't know what options the car left the factory with. But on the other hand quite possibly it isn't worth taking a risk on.

I had a 3 series with non standard CSL wheels which I told the insurance company about, they made a note on the file but no extra charge. My advice is to inform them of any non standard changes, insurance companies will always look at ways not to pay out if you claim.

Definitely tell them.

May cause too much hassle if you ever had to claim.

Shame M wheels don't fit as I'm selling mine

Definately tell them, as others have said it's unlikely to make any difference to the price of your policy but will save you a whole world of pain if you need to make a claim

Oh and mine didn't change, they just made a note.

J.
