Question about Forum Etiquette

Long story short,

I bought a set of wheels off another forum member, they were described as being in generally good condition with light marks on 3 wheels, the description would be best described as optimistic, but I drove a long ways to collect them and gave them a brief once over as I assumed if there was any problem, I could get back in touch.

There's now a question as to the authenticity of the wheels when comparing them to my own originals, but he assures me they're genuine deal, but over and above that, the wheels have been refurbed at some point (not mentioned until I had paid for them), and upon closer examination they're a substantially different colour to my original wheels.

I've not used the wheels, not even fitted one as I was unsure of them as soon as I offered them up to the originals. I contacted the seller today (3 days after purchase) and explained the situation asking if I could return them....the eventual response I got was:

"you bought them you got em"

Having bought from others on the forum and sold on other forums, i was expecting some community spirit, Am I in the wrong
here? Am i expecting too much? Were the situation reversed, I'd happily accept them back and simply relist.

I'm not sure what else to do...

contact the mods directly- may not be able to help but will be more open in pm imo. sorry to hear of your troubles.

Sorry to hear this, agree with you that the forum should be a safer environment than flea-bay transactions.

Good luck with the resolution, although don't really know where you stand.

whilst i am a relatively new member, i might venture an opinion.

Apologies if it offends.

I accept that generally this kind of thing is 'sold as seen', but i get the impression that the product was misrepresented somewhat ...which in my mind would amount to fraud, or obtaining money by deception.
Clearly we are only get one side of the story, but it appear that the seller makes no denial of the products being less than up to scratch.

Therefore, the seller really should be taking items back for a full refund.
If they are the real deal, then shouldn't be a problem taking them back.

The purchase cost is relevant, becuase that will determine what next.
?do you just accept that there are some people out there that don't give a damn, and swallow the cost?
?do you pursue via small claims court?

I wonder whether the seller was similarly had by a previous seller, and this was their only way to recoup cost?

Lesson therefore is:
if goods are not up to the description, then seriously consider walking away
if goods don't look like they match description, a proper once over may be more appropriate before handing over cash.

But yes, I agree, this sort of thing shouldn't happen, and at the very least, such behaviour should be brought to attention of moderators to consider banning the person from the forum. Unless they are a moderator! :o

Once again, i accept that we do only have one side of the story. my 2p

I'm really not misrepresenting the truth here in any way, and am happy to post the entire e-mail discourse along with some choice quotes from when I collected the wheels.

I'm just a little taken aback as it's not how I would treat someone. He seemed pretty nice in person.... :-/

Please let the mods deal with this "offline". Certainly don't want to see people airing personal discussions on the forum. I hope it's not that sort of place.

With a bit of luck this will get sorted soon for you, Daffy.

Have to laugh reading this Daffy. Remember those seats you sold me with the fired tensioners? How about the M wheels you were selling described as new but were chipped to pieces (was told this by the guy that bought mine)

You got some serious brass neck.

i find this a tricky subject to be discussing as we only have 1 side of the argument, however i would like to think if the seller was a respected and long standing member then any disbute can be resolved amicably

i have only bought 1 item from off here, from SK93, if i recall he even sent it before i paid for it, there was trust on both sides, this is how a forum should run

As stated by some of the others, these discussions are best kept offline. PM one of the mods if you need to
