Quaife now installed... with LSD-flavour pix

GuidoK can short circuit that process, he's had his for ages so should be able to give a longer-term user opinion

Most of the time I don't realize I have it as it stealty does it's job.
Until I break traction easily/accidentaly/unexpectedly done on brick pavement when I drive away, and the rear drifts away ever so slightly as I drive off.
Then I think of the videogame 'Outrun' somehow....

No getting stuck in the mud for you now :D
I think you're confusing me with a certain Mr Truman... you should know that I'd never let #320 anywhere near mud... she'd get her party shoes all dirty...

Looks great, and for someone who doesn't mod, that's a pretty impressive dip of the toe in the water. Are the floodgates open though - are there intake and exhaust mods in your future, I wonder
Time will tell but, be assured, that should I decide to do anything I'll post about it when it's actually happening (rather than a year beforehand)...

Anyway, I've modded #320 before... I've got a stubby...

I think the argument about this diff or that diff could go on and on. As could the debate about non M v M v Alpina!! Dont get me wrong i would love either an M or Alpina but i simply cant justify the extra cash on a toy car witch mine is a weekend toy. Its why i brought the M factory diff instead of a Quaife. I could afford to overhaul the whole rear end instead of just the diff. And i now know my car is tip top for a while.

But we do all have a few things in common hear. No mater what diff engine badge or roof we have.... We like sports cars fast ones that we can afford to use and drive. Ones with beautiful long bonnets and short stubby bums. And no room for much apart from a weekend bag. In essence its a car for driving not transporting things/people. A straight six rear wheel drive sports car

Glad you liking the diff. I wouldn't get hung up on this one is better than that one. I love mine as has been said you dont notice it normally. But what you will think is i am sure the car used to cut power more. And it really feels like it drives of the line better. And wow i got a really nice little slide there (under control) And it really falters the car and your driving

I would suggest finding a quite safe and legal place to shed a few mm of rubber. Yes its will cost you ££££ Might just save your car and you in a sticky situation. I have and do on a regular basis go and have some fun sliding the car. I just wish there was more scope and place to get to know how your car works and handles.

Keep us posted Perry

What's the difference between the Quaife and Mfactory out of interest? Very interesting about the Quaife patent; I always understood what most have said about the Quaife being a great option in terms of its every day usability but suffered from zero traction when a wheel was off the ground. Very interesting to read this isn't the case!

I forgot about those... and the Intravee... and the extra first-aid box under the driver's seat... and the LED light in the boot... oh cr@p, I'm getting as bad as Jonny Essex...

You should have dropped by today then on your post LSD high :D
If I'd been up your way I'd have given you a call - it's still a little chilly with the roof down so a cup of something hot would have been welcome

Enjoyed having a great read of this at lunch today. I could even feel my wallet opening reading through their website at one point. A couple of things stand out.

1) Great general write up by PerryGunn including the general information, links and pictures. Very insightful.
2) Never take on Guidok in a pub quiz regarding LSD's.! Enjoyed reading all your detailed explanations.

007 - If you get yours done, drop me a PM…

Topped off the diff change by taking #320 for a Hunter laser alignment today - so she's now all ready for the hooning season :driving:

The ATB diff is the best mod I've done to my Z so.far.
Usually while driving normally you dont really notice it, but you just need to go through a moderate corner with high speed to feel the difference, as the car behaves quite the other way it did before installi.g the diff - instead of understeering it has a slight tendence to oversteer meaning, you can apply a bit less steering in high speed corners.
It feels tremendous, and I cant get enough of this feel even after 6 mpnths of having my M-factory.

Exactly what I've found in my, somewhat limited, experience so far, less steering input needed into corners/bends as the car tends to pull itself into the corner rather than pushing wide.

If I'm honest, it makes the car handle the way I was thinking/hoping it would before the test drive, not that it was bad just slightly different from my expectations, I still liked it enough to buy it and I adapted to the car and changed my driving style to accomodate

It seems that, for me, the Quaife has 'fixed' something that I didn't really think was 'broken' - and I put 'fixed' and 'broken' in quotes there because there wasn't anything 'broken' that needed to be 'fixed', #320 handled fine before the LSD but the addition has just made her 'level up' as my daughter would put it 8)
