Thinking ahead I’m about to get a quad exhaust done. Easiest way would be get an M bumper, right?

Rocking horse poo.........

So I’m looking at cutting a hole in my facelift bumper to make it work.

Have any you guys done it and any tips/ hints and more specifically photos would be appreciated

TIA :D

Good stuff Lynch!

How did you fabricate the return lip on the new “hole”? 🤷🏼‍♂️
I used body filler and slowly built the edge up over a few days then rubbed it back into shape, I’ll post picks

That’s exactly what I needed to know

Did you experience any cracks etc 🤷🏼‍♂️
No I didn’t, just take your time and build it up slowly.

Thanks HG but I’m looking at modifying the existing bumper if possible 😉
Ok I can understand this if you have a pre facelift E85 like Lynchy but much easier to buy proper genuine bumper no?
Imho i don’t see the point of this imposter z4 m business.

I doubt it's wanting to be an imposter knowing Jock. His car is undergoing a continual tweak process and maybe this is just something he wants to add? Possibly just to balance it up? Whilst its easy to throw money at a genuine bumper, there is more satisfaction in driving a car that looks good because you did it yourself!

I’m all for owners working on their own car, this forum is a great resource for that and each to their own in the styling department but in jocks first post he states z4m bumpers are rocking horse poo and they’re not judging by the next post, in lynchy s case they obviously are not being produced pre facelift.

Perhaps weighing up the financial implications of the expense of not only buying an ///M bumper but adding the cost of a re-paint and the cost of fabrication work for the quads using his own bumper makes a lot of sense.

Totally understand this view but unless your an expert bodyshop/sprayer there’s a high possibility of ruining a perfectly good bumper in the process and it will never look as good as oem equivalent.

My long long thought process on this is................

I have an Aero front bumper, Aero skirts BUT Aero only do a rear bumper for pre facelift rear lights. I prefer the facelift rear look (mine is facelift) therefore my query 🤷🏼‍♂️

I have thought about an M bumper - would solve all of the above problems  BUT would Aero go with M?

I haven’t seen any comparisons and it’s an expensive way to find out eh?

I am totally open to looks/ opinions guys so fire away.

FYI LemonConnisuer has a M bumper for sale + courier + respray your looking at circa £800 for a proper job. Modding my existing bumper would be nearly half that 🤷🏼‍♂️

Robster the only OEM bumper with twin apertures is an M bumper, as far as I’m aware 🤷🏼‍♂️

Hence using my bumper instead 😁
