Anybody ever used these guys?

http://www.pxwheels.com/

I've got the infamous 108's on my 07 coupe (out of warranty - why didn't the previous owner get them sorted  ) and they could do with a refurb. The service pxwheels offers looks pretty convenient.

Also, are their prices reasonable? - £367.78 either delivered or fitted (in Blackpool only)

They sound pretty good from their site, my 108's need some TLC and i cant be bothered doing it myself. I'll be interested to hear how you get on if you use them, I wish i could exchange the 108's for a set of 107's but they dont do that unfortunately. I love the 108 style but they are too much like high maintenance for my liking.

Yeah, will let you know how I get on if I go for it. I might wait till after winter though. In fact still toying with the idea of getting some 17's for the winter

I bet if you spoke to them direct you could negotiate 108's for 107's - surely it's just a question of adjusting for price?

I love the 108's and once refurbed will be prepared to stay on top of the maintenance, but I don't fancy taking on the refurb project myself cos it sounds way too time consuming

Interesting, I was about to post a similar question about my 108s. Just contacted carcare in manchester as recommended by BMW in Crewe, however the cheapest they could do was £117.5 per wheel.

Used PX Wheels on my previous car which was a Smart Four two.
Was well impressed with the service. Had the exchange wheels sent to my nearest fitting centre in North London.
I thought the quality was excellent and they were still like new when I sold the Smart a year later when I bought the Zed.

Site looks good as does the selection and process. Be interested in hearing how you get on with these guys if you use them too.

I've used them with a Mondeo ST24, the new wheels were spot on, I personally didn't like the colour as much as they had been done in a slightly different shade of silver to the OEM colour. They still looked great and most importantly were round unlike the wheels they replaced!

The 108's are easy and enjoyable to refurb yourself, EXCEPT for splitting the rims!

I had real trouble with a couple of mine and was glad I bought a spare set to do-up.

Due to a busy work schedule this summer I've only managed to do one pair so-far, but they do look good and I'm looking forward to getting the other two done and them all on the car.

I'll get a lot of satisfaction knowing I've done them myself when they're finished.

Jimbo 1958 & Blue - what condition were your wheels in that you sent for replacement? I've read their T&C and they reserve the right to charge for wheels they claim can't be re-furbed. I'm no expert of wheel refurbing and I'm wondering whether typical corrosion on 108's is likely to cause an issue

TBH the ones I exchanged were pretty good.

Mate, as you say, all looks good with the service from these guys; the only thing I would say, is looking at the pic of the 108 displayed on their site, it looks as though they have possibly painted over the polished outer lip, rather than retaining the original polished finish, which, to me anyway, really sets the wheel off ?

Anyway bud, could be wrong, and it may not matter the same to you, but just thought I would mention it, as I have the 108`s on too.

Mine looked OK really, no bad kerbing or whatever but they were warped and caused the car to wobble. The new ones didn't :D

I was quite gutted to see that the technical fix for my warped alloys was to hit them with a mallet in a strategic spot! :o

I've just been up to these guys to get a set of 108s. Encee you are correct they have just painted the entire wheel and the polished section of the wheel has unfortunately covered, also the wheels are a slightly darker shade of grey. In both cases on my car it looks ok as it is blue, not sure how it would look if your car was silver.

Besides that they were pleasant enough and changed over the wheels and pretty quickly. Note that I have to pay a further £15 to have the wheels balanced.

I had previously contacted Carcare in Manchester who do the wheel refurbs for BMW in Crewe. They quoted £140+VAT per wheel, but I guess this would be an absolutely perfect refurb. I guess you get what you pays for!!

Cheers Dave; thanks for updating us.

I thought it may be the case with painting the entire wheel, but hey, as long as your car looks as you want it to again then that`s all that matters mate. Nice one. 8)
