Right, Z the third has arrived yesterday so time describe the journey so far.

It is a 3.0 si, 2007. It is a project car for both of us so it is more about the journey than having a perfect car to start with. We were aware (the day before) that the car had the dash lit up with the DSC errors but despite that we to thought it was still worth making the journey into Essex.

After negotiations, we agreed on a fair price based on the issue that was present and some other bits that need sorting (all alloys kerbed and a lot of tlc to get the rusty bits sorted (bolts, arms, anything exposed basically). The car seems to have spent some time at the sea side by the looks of it.

First job was to get Carly running on the faults, program the 3 click turn signal, flashing lights on lock and some other features. Programmed the second key as well as that was not working.

Pictures this morning at its new home in the garage.

Second job - as we had a tyre blowout today (completely lost all air in rear tyre) we will do the csl refurb first with new Michelin tyres.

Then sort the DSC errors and completely clean the car thoroughly as it still has half the beach in there.

Ordered the Storm Gearknob as well, so that will be fitted as well.

Add CarPlay as well to get the infotainment up to date. Will add the next steps and pics as we go along

 welcome back to the fold, and good to have TVR along too.
She’s going to scrub up very nicely indeed, I’m sure.

Z number 3 looks like a great starting point for your joint project. Good luck getting it just how you want it.

Looks like a very nice car.

Are you planning on replacing the satnav screen so that you can get Carplay? Is the 'the 3 click turn signal' like what you get on Fords, tap the indicator once and you get three clicks on whichever side of the car?

FFS! Never gonna get rid of you now! :(
Just when I thought there were grounds to kick you out for not owning a Z for the last 20 years! :P

Yes - you just push the indicator once and it indicates 3 times like most modern cars.

I will replace the satnav screen and replace with that X3 carplay unit that mac had done on his Z. He did a how-to on that.

Thank you, it is a different journey this time as I haven't got a 100% perfect car that I keep that way, I am now starting with a 50% perfect car that I want to bring up to say 90%. It is also nice to be able to add bits again to the spec whilst on the other cars I can't do that without invalidating warranty etc.

That's handy and I like the sound of the work that mac did. I'll have a search for it.

It'll be interesting to see your progress with the rustproofing and techniques you use. How are the front wings on the car?

Body panels are all fine, it is anything that is exposed, nuts / bolts / brake calipers / bonnet catch, suspension arms etc

Bought sets of steel brushes in all sort of sizes, drill bit attachments and then lots of liquids and finally protection stuff. The liquids and protection yet to be selected but there seems a lot on the market.
