Putting feelers out for my 3.0si

Having started a new job last week, I have been provided with a company car (jaguar xf no less), and as such I don't think I will be running the z4 anymore. The company pays the private fuel allowance, so it isn't economical to keep 2 cars.

I have had her for around 18 months or so, and am looking to let her go for what I consider a fair price. At the minute, I want to gauge interest, and then decided in a day or two.

First things first, the roof motor packed in a few days ago. Could be hydraulics, could be the motor itself, but I feel my price reflects that.

A few other negatives. The front bumper will need a respray, it's got some road rash. There's a few scratches on the boot lid, and the rear brake centre light needs replacing.

Wanted to be as honest as possible, and get that out of the way to start.

On to the car itself.

It's a 3.0si, 06 reg, manual. It's sapphire black, with the 2 tone red and black leather interior. Features it has...

Mechanicals and engine are all sound

Sports heated seats
DSP audio system
Electric memory seats
Aux cable fitted
108 split rims
Gap tech rch+ fitted! though with the roof as it is it currently won't open of course.

A few pics.

At the end of the day, I feel the car would suit someone who wants a 3.0si on a limited budget, willing to spend some cash to get it in tip top condition.

I am pricing around the 5500-5000 mark, but as I said, just gauging interest. Feel free to pm me if you want a chat?

Looks to be a very fair price and good, honest description. GLWTS and enjoy that XF and that sublime interior.

So refreshing to see a realistic and honest seller. Mileage, MOT, wheel/tyre condition and service history will all help the evaluation but on the face of it it could be a bargain for someone who's handy with tools and has a mate in the paint-shop

Cheers for saying guys! My thinking was to be as honest as possible. Id rather just sell it on for a fair price, as I know its not a perfect car, but should make someone happy if, as you say, they are happy to sort a few defects out.

Even with the issues listed this should sell faster than tomscotts :)
Half tempted myself

Ideal for you Andy. If I had the space I would even buy it myself and turn it round.

Agree with the above - too cheap. Especially with DSP, individual interior and 108s in what look like decent condition. £7k would still be an extremely attractive price.

Agreed with others, deffo too cheap, I would put it around £6500-£7000 personally, none of the issues are hard to fix and it has a good spec and reasonable mileage. Lots of people here can sort out a roof motor relatively cheap or even do it themselves! You could sort those issues and sell for around £8000 I would think. Good luck whatever you decide :)

Shunwick, if its any help with regards your valuation, i've just sold my 56 plate 3.0si coupe as below for £7750. It had 69500 miles, full BMW FSH, Inspection 2 carried out Jan 2014 and was the normal 3.0si spec without nav. (bottom pic shows the spec when i bought it as a AUC car 2.5 yrs ago.)
Like you, was being realistic with the price as otherwise with that many there out on the market i thought it would be difficult to sell, even though it was in superb and original condition. I was proved correct as the buyer travelled from Worcester to my location in Carlisle to buy it without even seeing it in the flesh. I went to a lot of dealers, BMW and independent, and the best offer price i got was £7250. Its great thinking ' yes i could get £8000 +' but you still need a punter with cash paying for an 8 yr old car.
I'm happy with the sale and even more so knowing it was going to a good home.

Purely my own thoughts  The car in question would be worth £7k /£8k if tiptop possibly a bit more ? possibly a bit less ?
As it is my advice would be to go with a honest advert & kick off at £6150 & see where that takes you or fix the issues & then go for it at £7750/£7850
Its always going to be difficult selling a car with a known fault or faults as it makes prospective buyers think there could be additional problem's
The ask of £5k/£5500 isn't a giveaway as some would suggest :? it purely reflects time, effort, cash & risk the buyer has to consider
Best of luck with the sale & it is a great looking Z that should make someone very happy

Not often we come across a seller who applies common sense & logic
this would appear a very fair deal for both parties & genuinely reflects the cars age, spec & used value as opposed to starting high then dropping gradually over 6/8 weeks .
Hope the new owner swings by

My employers cash alternative to buy my own car as opposed to having a 'Vauxhall' company car was the common sense & logic part of the sale. As long as i recovered my initial deposit, from when buying it as BMW AUC, i was happy. I have had 2.5yrs and 25000 miles of driving a car everyday at work around the Lake District that put a smile on my face rather than a driving the dull diesel company car of choice in my company.
Personal circumstances have changed at home and out of the 2 cars that were sitting on the drive, the 5 door 14 plate 1 series won the head v heart play. The wife's car has now become 'our' car!!

Thanks all. Location wise it's in cannock, West Midlands.

In terms of the value, it may be a little low, but as said I think it's fair bearing in mind the faults. I'd rather someone have a good deal, considering that they might need to put a few things right. If it were priced higher, I imagine I would be negotiated down anyways.

So I would rather be as honest and upfront as I can be.

Here here..........well said that man. To be honest, i'm quite pleased that my buyer travelled 250+ miles and was very happy with the car. Only sad thing was when he drove away, i thought 'bloody hell, thats one good looking car' as i'd never seen anyone else driving my car. Too late......sold! :(

All credit to you, rather than trying to rip people off and over valuing it. - A nice change.
