Putting car asleep for six weeks

Does the base not have a car club/garage to rent scheme where you can put your car under cover for the 6 weeks? Otherwise, +1 on pumping up the tyres, leaving it in gear and handbrakes off. Mine is put away each winter for 3 -4 months, and apart from the tyres and in-gear, I also put in a dehumidifier, trickle charger and cover. Don't think 6 weeks is a problem...

I couldn't justify owning a car and regularly leaving it for 6 weeks doing nowt

Saying that, mine will be used far less regularly now I've moved to Edinburgh

Auto windows, time/date, possibly preferences on satnav etc... Not sure what else ?

For a 6 week det I've never done anything, just left it in the car park and it's been fine!

If they move the car by forklift truck i would quite happily charge the tool that did it as you have to be informed of movements even if you're out of area. If you do park it near a parade square make sure your car reg is given into MT, guard room and your mess manager, give them your contact details OOA and a contact with a spare key to the guard room. They HAVE to let you know before they move it.

Worst case - stick it in the officer's mess car park

Unfortunately over the last 23 years of being in the REME, I've witnessed all sorts of stupidity in camps, mostly jumped up idiots requiring said car park for lots of 'walking about in lines of three's to my timing' etc etc. and cars getting shifted after notices on Orders for 5 days...
The amount of people I have told to bu&&er off, and no you can't borrow all four of my car jacks to move a ford focus because the RSM wants a regimental 'aerobics' lesson on the square at 05:30 on Friday.... Not that I'm bitter and twisted now.
