Not so sure I would totally agree. Yes it can get toxic. But an open honest debate is far better than not talking about subjects that do affect our lives greatly. One never learns by only listening or speaking to those that are always in agreement nor avoiding touchy subjects. The trick is to know when to back off a bit, Say sorry. And not always trying to win a discussion/argument at all costs. Which by the way is one of the biggest problem areas of a marriage.
