kryton, hes on about woots and his little wheels. 108's are great wheels

edit - sorry not little wheels, performance lightweight wheels :poke:

hahaha you've got it right

im waitin for some nerd to find out how much each wheel weighs for them to then tell me mine are actually the heaviest...

mods?? :P :poke:

i think those 16's are about 9.5kg, thats a saving of about 5kg on mine i think!!! 20kg all round woots, no need for an extra 2 cylinders....and u save weight on ur engine! youl be blasting past the m's soon :poke:

oh its already happend believe me...
spesh if i come up behind one without a stubby!! its all aersodynamic advantages
i barely even hafta drop down a gear...
everyone knows ///M drivers are too concerned with heating controls to keep them toasty and warm.... man up will you please :P

but his need more air to fill the extra rubber! that's going to slow you down tonnes
;) :poke:

everyone knows air weighs "not very much" lol

just drive everywhere with less than a 1/4 of a tank...no luggage...come up behind a 3.2 with a boot full of cement bags and i think he would be pretty worried...yepyep

i must have been thinking of when i weighed mine with tyres on.

its an 11.9kg saving 8)

but yes gannet that means ur a nerd :poke:

hahahaha class
see thats why i will not change them....nothing to do with the fact i dont have 500 quid i wanna throw away
but....as a scientific test to calculate the effect bigger wheels have on performance i think someone should donate me some alloys...prefably ///m alloys....or just everyone chip in a fiver...
i think thats an aceeee idea!

I think not :) LOL

Reminds me of that thread on another forum that did the rounds' some bloke with a 1.2i Corsa stating:

- He always travelled with an empty glovebox and 1/4 of a tank
- He put the rear seats flat to reduce the centre of gravity
- Removed the spare
- Always had windows up to improve aerodynamics

...and reckoned he was a lot quicker than stock haha

Woots, great idea, if everyone chipped in a fiver you could get a new zed with 19" 296's, a Dinan remap to 385 hp and all the M goodies you could find for it. Maybe then then forum members would stop ribbing you about your 4 pot with little wheels, nah ,,,, probably not. :D :D :poke: :poke:

Kryton, I like it with the hardtop on it. I also think it's a selling feature as potential buyers will know it has one (assuming you are selling it with)

I think they look horrible.

Also a bit pointless. On a nice day you can't just drop the top.

If the rag top was crap, cold, leaky and so on, then I'd see a point in a hardtop, but the ragtop is so good why bother with a hardtop?

Thanks for the input, thought I would increase value by selling seperate, but depending on the offer I would not mind selling both as one item.

I am a big fan of the hardtop if only to keep all the winter rain, snow and sludge from blocking my rain channels and hopefully giving my roof motor a (slim) chance for a longer life
Where does the rain go when the rain channels are frozen, or dont they freeze?
Is it all a non issue? :?
I think they look cool anyway :driving:

Oh - this thread got the arguments going pretty quick. I'm in the 'love it' group. Gives me a hardtop for Winter and softop for Summer. With a hoist in the garage I can remove it in moments, if we ever get a good day. It looks good (imho of course) Protects my roof which looks like brand new even though near 7 years old and gives me security if I have to leave it in airports and city car parks.

Boot lip spoiler to balance it - no way - it has a purpose built one on the roof and they look horrible on the boot.

m44rrt - I'm sure the majority of the motor problems come from a combination of cars left outside (thus never drying out), probably near trees, so acumulating debris and blockage never removed. Hardtop is bound to help in Winter and I'm sure freezing channels is a non issue

Love my hard top.My Z lives outside and so I don't worry about all this shitty weather damaging the roof. If it was garaged, I'd not have bothered. It'll come off in March when the roof will be constantly down again.

With a hardtop you've effectively got two different cars, plus as CJ says, it protects your ragtop during winter months. No brainer.

And @ Kryton, I'm with Dave - nobody going to pay you an extra grand for your car just cos its got a hardtop - stick it on eBay and its easy money.

Got the h/top on mine at the moment, love the look of the car with it on as in imo makes the car look lower and sleeker, but soon as the weather warms up the H/top will be off and hopefully some roof down action. The h/top does protect the roof in the winter months, mine came with the car when i bought it so might aswell use it even though the car is garaged during the week. This the only pic of the Zed with H/top on.

The pic was taken pre stubby before anyone asks

Here we go - even on a grey drab Winter day the hardtop makes the Zed's lines look spectacular from some angles (aside al the practical reasons to have one)
