My 1100 mile near side front 326m has a puncture , kwik fit say they can be repaired although they cant confirm until they see tyre, other places say not , as does the manual , its not so much the cost as the fact it seems such a waste , thoughts?

I had a puncture in o/s rear tyre on my 330 Coupe about 18months ago (19" style 230 alloy with 255/30R 19 tyre)
Drove around 90 miles home then following day took it to my local dealer who wanted to replace it. Not happy with that as there didn't seem to be any external damage at all so took to tyre dealer who repaired it and I had no further problems.
I would certainly let Kwik fit have a look.

Yep,

I have had runflats repaired. As long at it has not been driven flat and the normal rules of where on the tyre the puncture is. I have done a further 10k plus on it with no issue at all. :)

If you do have it repaired which is doable, ensure they have the correct kit to remove runflats otherwise you will end up with a knackered alloy. I would ask then to guarantee it i.e. replace the wheel if damaged.

Tim.

Just be careful with Kwikfit, they do sometimes try it on when you rock up in a nice car with the old " that isn't repairable sir. Also while you're here can we grope you for a service and check your air/con? "

Well I went to kwikfit in lunchbreak , no it cant be repaired they want £260 for bridgestone but I can get one for £220 but they wont price match so not buying it from them

I had exactly this, I had done 600 miles in my old z4 with runflats, the puncture warning light came on and took it to quick fit who said I needed a new tyre. I said I wanted to repair a puncture and they said it wasn't possible. I bet the chavs kept my tyre and shoved it on eBay. I didn't really want to drive it around with the puncture light onto just accepted it and paid.

to close to shoulder apparently , at the moment have only been to kwikfit

I don't think Kwikfit best for specialist stuff like this. Do you have a Bathwick Tyres branch near you - they are v good and will give you an honest assessment of whether it can be repaired although if it's near the shoulder you are probably going to have to replace it. Bathwick can usually beat anyone on tyre prices - they even fit my winter wheels every year F.O.C.

the nearest one to me would be ferndown/dorset they dont list 19ins tyres on web site but I might try giving thyem a call , thanks for tip

Same happened to me. My front o/s tyre punctured and I just took it to BMW. £260 for a replacement. They told me that they do normally repair runflats but that mine was also too close to the shoulder and hence it couldn't be repaired. Very annoying.

I left it with BMW though as I thought they had less chance of scratching/ruining my lovely 19" 326 alloy. As it happened, they didn't make a mark so it was worth it in my view.

ATS repaired a puncture in a run flat for me - I had to sign a disclaimer type thing to make them happy; it basically confirmed I hadn't driven on it whilst it was flat (hadn't, as it went down on drive when car was left for a couple of days).

yes as I said before seriously get a second opinion. Had it before and went down the road elsewhere and they repaired it, showed me and it wasn't too close to the shoulder. Friend had it only a week or so rocking up in his brand new a3, he said he'd take it to national tyres and they changed their tune instantly. They might be right in your case but doesn;t harm to check elsewhere. Bathwick will be able to get 19s I'm pretty sure, +1 to them being accommodating and if they do they have their own stock.

I had a puncture on only 1000 miles Kwik Fit would not repair it... however took it to my local indi and it was done for £20 no prob... Get a 2nd opinion not from any of the large Tyre shops though....
