People that prefer PS3's generally use the excuse that they don't like the Xbox pad because they prefer the playstations - which has not changed for 15 years!
If you want a good shoot em up buy an old PC and a copy of the original Battlefield 1942. I've been playing for 10 years now and there are still lots of busy online severs running.

Yes a 3d game. Up to 64 players in each game but usually about 10 to 15 on each sever. You can pick the game up for a tenner these days and it will play on most pc's.
Its a lot more accurate and involving using keyboard and mouse than console controls. And for some reason it feels more 'real' than console games. Arena's are massive, there's more depth...you can find yourself running long distance to stake out your enemy etc.

There are loads of variations on the game as you will see on the website. But I reckon the original is the best..'Battlfield 1942'.
You need to pick up a patch or two from that website to get onto the same version as the online players, but they are free to download.
I forgot to add....the other reason its better than console stuff is that you can drive the tanks, fly the planes, sail the ships etc..not jusy infantry.
