Protech - 7 years on

My M is almost 7 years old now, and that also means that the Protech paint protection I had done is also 7 years old.

During those 7 years, I have never had to wax the car and in addition, my paint index (the amount of colour in the paint) should also be still in the high eighties %.

What was explained to me was that a car loses about 60% of its colour over 6 years whilst with the protection I had done, it would still have 80 something percent of the paint left (more visible of course in red cars). It still amazes me the beading it still shows after 7 years, not to mention never having to wax or polish it.

Work of the Devil as I have always said.

Presume the Porker will be getting the same treatment.

Yep, about 800 Euro but worth it.

You get to spend more time driving it mate

Tbh, whilst I love the result of polishing and waxing it is a complete ball-ache sometimes - the sun is shining, the weather is perfect.... And there I am wasting 4 perfectly good hooning hours getting back-ache :x

...only for the annoying shiny fcuker to be dusty after 15mins driving.

Lovely pvr

I would check with Porsche first because it may void your warranty, I was looking at Paintshield film protection (all front up to the door edge) for my next car but told it will void warranty however I do intend to check with Porsche GB first

That's why I'll never buy a dark coloured car again, my DSB 35iS was a nightmare to keep clean :headbang:

That will be an interesting discussion as they will have never heard of it.

Standard issue for Porsche in NL though, so I think I will talk to them first.

How does paint protection void a warranty?

Because it block the gigglyvents which can lead to catastrophic failure of the whoflungdungvalve :idunno:

If you've leased/purchased from NL then you shouldn't have a problem I'd say.

Is the Protec a film or is it sprayed on? I've got the GardX treatment on my car and yes never waxed my car either and the odd time it's been out in the rain I've had large beading. In the UK if the dealership don't apply it then the paintwork warranty is void, although you've got to be careful of your dealer telling porkies.

The Paintshield is circa £1500 for the complete front end and good value I think for what it does.

No, my car is UK private purchased as were my other cars.

The treatment is not a spray or a film, it is something applied that acts inside the the paint (filling the gaps etc). According to their website it has no impact on re-spray etc and the insurance company would cover the re-application costs.

Obviously that would be based on NL insurance companies, not UK ones who would not have a clue anyway. A system devised in Monaco with which I am very happy anyway.

What is paintshield?
