Pros and cons of using an auction like Bonhams

My recent daly with the surgeon made me reflect on mortality and a time when for whatever reason driving a Zed is no longer an option.

For those of us who have embarked on the more fringe areas of rarity and or modifications I was pondering about using an agency like Bonhams..

Just seen a fairly average 35i go for £14,950 which will be closer to £16k all up for the buyer..poor spec but well talked up by Bonhams.

For what appears to be a fee of about £500 they do quite a job of detailing and selling the car…I guess the risk is if they set a reserve which yiu consider low then your beloved Zed is sold for a pittance?

There seem to a lot of them 'at it' these days. Recently seen a lot going through Silverstone Auctions (they have some real rarities but quite mundane stuff too). I wonder if the 'Bangers and Cash' lot and the way the publicity has shown the car auction industry to the masses has helped?
I always thought of Bonhams as fine art and 'rich people's' auction stuff. I suppose everybody needs to make a living somehow.

Well I have...but only when they've had a classic car sale on there...just for me to go "HOW MUCH!!!"
