Pro's and Con's of just replacing back box's?

Happy to go back on the dyno to see what difference it made, I won't be hugely disappointed if it's lower as I really really haven't noticed. Too busy listening to the noise = GRIN FACTOR

Yes please

If there was a 10hp difference either way, I'm sure back to back dyno runs would net the proof ur after; but there's not. You really want to see proof that the two main intakes for our car (within reason - AFE & GruppeM) lose/gain 2hp? Not going to happen. Listen to owners, and see if they'd purchase again and why

We're not talking about 2bhp, we're talking about upto 20bhp. If it was 2bhp I'd happily swap that out for a more aggressive noise.

Some examples here:

Remember what Aliv6 said to you yesterday.

Someone mentioned Schnitzer exhaust a while back. Don't seem to see too many, but here are mine (on the car when I bought it). The looks seem to divide people, but I like them - a bit different but clearly still a twin pipe system. And they sound brilliant with no drone. Oh yes, car now has a BMW stubby

Good article on Pistonheads about the whole 'exhaust thing'. Suggests that with cars being more refined, regulated, boring to drive, the sound coming out of the tailpipes has become an emotional part of owning and enjoying a 'sports car'. hence BMW using sound enhancers/ generators on cars like the new M5.
The majority of owners fit a louder system/airbox for the sound rather for any notional increase in BHP. All the same you wouldn't want to loose too many horses from your car! The Z4M system is restricted at the resonator where the pipes flatten and the two very heavy cans on the rear have a single entry/twin exit that quietens the whole thing down and seems likely to restrict exhaust flow as well. Of course all this may be intentional by BMW and the best design available but I very much doubt it and suspect noise levels and cost were the driving considerations when it was designed.

I don't believe it was the twin round version that people disliked so much, but rather the odd oblong ones.

That hole kit look ruins the car, one of ACS poorer efforts I think.

Like OOOO we could do this... like a child and a blank wall with a crayon.
