That's why I am the monkey man!!

Yeah not the best picture of me!! But it's strange for such a good looking dude I don't ever take a good picture

Looking good.....

That bumper is a bit 'different', but until we see the final bodywork it might be a little unfair to judge! It might suit the low and wide stance!

Takes some balls to cut up your car... kudos!

dot to admire your project, It could look great when done. Have to worry that your will need to buy shares in a wheel bearing company though!

I really really can't wait to see this project finished and painted, you are one brave guy, don't mind the front bumper either.

However, I'm also concerned by the spacers, pushing out the wheels by 75 mm is going to significantly amplify the forces on the hubs, so you might want upgrade the bearings while you can and secondly please tell me that they are made from Aluminium not steel

Wow looks great so far.

Have to wonder how well will the wheel bearing hold up? Compared to the rest of this project cant be too hard to get a longer axle or get some 12j alloys with a low offset... Et 10ish!

Also calipers will looks miles away from the rims with that sort of spacer.

After speaking to Brad he knows hi onions. He has looked into all this stuff.

The spacers are aluminium 1.5kg front 2.5kg rear so it's not weight that might cause problems. As sars says its the extra leverage. But as I said Brad is on it!!

What is the absolute maximum width for spacers until they just....well...snap?

Is there any maths that can be done? Someone with an Meng...Sars?

Woots - there isn't a point at which they snap, but issues get ever worse. You can get wide by mounting the spacer to the hub them bolting the rim to the spacer. That overcomes the extended stud issue. You then start to run into bearing issues as mentioned. Unsprung weight issues too, but to me more importantly significant suspension and steering issues. Turning circle gets reduced and the rims thrown forward and backward in the arches on turning. Geometry changes as wheels rise and descend and all sorts of angles compromised.

I can't comment on the Zed setup and am sure op knows what he's doing and why and do not wish to in any way criticise without knowing details, but I've done a few Jeeps and once we get to 25mm we change the axles, or widen them for avoidance of all mentioned above - and yes on Jeeps I've seen them snap off...

You just over stress the bearings and they will fail, the spacers themselves won't break. As CJ has stated, you should bolt the spacer to the hub, using the shortest possible bolt length.

I'm no engineer, but I can see what cj and sars are seeing, but isn't this car going to be a show car(?) and as such isn't it likely to do limited mileage, as such the valid points made should be less of a concern...... I'm looking forward to ens results!

It's all true no doubt that they will where the hub bearings out quicker. It's a prt that will give warning and not fail in a dramatic way. It's a show car I am not sure but I think it will be Brads daily driver as well.

Great work, keep the pictures up!

Please make those front grilles a "normal" size though, it's only a small modification compared to the rest of the work! Love the front bumper apart from the massive grilles.

Brad will no way be doing that he loves his big grills. I actually think on a standard zed they look pants. But there are so many other exaggerated features arches manly they will look great.

Brad, I havent re-read the thread to find the exact date you gave, but are you still expecting the externals to be complete by around the 17th?

Looking forward to it.

Well once we fit the coilovers, which is tonight. We'll have all of the parts we need to finish the exterior so yes. It'll be a mad push of welding, filling, sanding & REPEAT for a good 30 more hours work. Then a spray job lasting all day from 8am-8pm allowing for coats to dry, then it's being rolled out and covered until the internal parts arrive and the electricals can be fitted. Not going OTT on the internals, just some slight colour matching and lighting additions to make the cabin more pleasant in line with the external alterations.

We're on schedule!
