Should be free if it is sent as a gift and from your bank account linked to the account.

The other alternative, for people with online banking, is a bank transfer - quick and free

Pretty sure PayPal will take a fair chunk, direct bank xfer is best if possible, all money guaranteed to arrive. If PayPal do take fees, lots of small xfers is very inefficient.
