So picked up my latest Z4, a very low mileage Ex-demonstrator +2 private owner car, from Wales a week ago today and my previous Mint E85 Si went to its new home last Thursday.
Thought I’d stick it in for an early MOT to see if there were any major issues I’d not spotted, bearing in mind the car has only done 29,200 miles and every MOT bar one has been clean. Previously failed on headlight washers being inoperative.
The Good news...
Headlight washers disabled and not mentioned... per the 2018 MOT changes.
Not so good news....
Advisory on worn front control arm bushes... not a big surprise I suppose as the car is on the originals.
Advisory on one rear brake disk pitted or scored - sort of expected this to be honest.
Fail - Broken rear coil spring - I should probably have realised this would happen as it’s inevitable on these and it wasn’t mentioned anywhere in the previous MOT history
Weirdly, you can’t tell from driving it!
So, it’s decision time.... do I commit to this car now and throw on new control arms and a Bilstein B12 kit (Or maybe B4’s & Eibach pro springs) or do I just replace the rear springs.... decisions, decisions.
I’m going to do all the disks and pads as well, just for completeness.
