Hi Andy and welcome aboard :) subscribed to this thread as loving your work so far! i wish i had the tools/skills to do stuff like yourself!

I too have the 2.0 and Im loving it, Ive nearly finished doing all the bits and bobs to it that i have planned so im interested to see what stuff you do as most build threads on here are for the bigger 6 cylinder engines so some of the stuff i cant do to mine so im extra excited to see whats clearly going to be a very details and thorough build/restoration to the 2.0 version :D

great work and looking forward to following (and remember.... plenty of photos :P )

Thanks JINGLE.
Got to support the least loved!
Oh, yes, plenty of photos!!!
What bits have you done to yours?

Andy.

done quite a lot tbh, take a look at my build thread if you want some ideas and photos here ---> http://www.z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=78475

ive currently got a fair few bits ready to go on the car when i get a chance, including:
stud conversion kit
front shocks
new front top mounts and dust boots
H&R lowering springs
1st aid boxes
RPi air scoop
air scoop bracket
new front 330 brake conversion to allow 325mm discs

im really trying my hardest to get all the above bits fitted and added to my build thread but i just dont have the time or a work shop, its no fun trying to do it all on the wet driveway in the dark after work :(

Do you want to do that with my M3 :poke:

Brake and clutch pipes + fluids , engine mounts, gear box mounts, rear diff bushes and short shift kit (involves dropping the exhaust to access)

Can't say I'm very experienced at doing any of those jobs but DIY guides have gotten me pretty far in the past

that is a great offer and I would love to take you up on it and refund you some beer tokens for your time.... however the 6 hour+ round trip is a bit far :( (altho I am very tempted to take you up on it and use it as an excuse for a drive haha)

hopefully we can see each others Zs at a meet sometime this summer :D

Great thread so far and a great new member. Must admit, I'm not sure on the multitude of red, but other than that, loving the work so far.

i'm not a jealous guy but a school teacher retired at 54

and teachers say they have it hard ffs lol

Looking forward to seeing the old velocipede brought back to life. My foglights were beyond saving so bought new ones from eurocarparts for £120 the pair, added extra silicone around the joints to keep the condensation at bay and guess what!? The condensation has returned in less than a year! You won't regret buying a 2 litre, a nice free revving unit which pulls the car well and is perfectly weighted front/rear. Hope you enjoy many smiley miles when it's back on the road Andy.

Hi Geezah.
Shame about those foglights. May even strip mine down and convert them into DRL's.
And its back on the road already! Amazing little car.

Even sprayed part of the adjuster on the handbrake mechanism! Well, it was rusty!

Blew softop drain holes clear and used a borescope to check that they were. Motor side certainly was but good now after waterfall!

Then up onto my lift for oil change, air filter change, screenwash top up.

And out for a test drive, and its beautiful and smooth.

Going to scope the coils next to get some baseline readings.

Okay, we are back on the streets.
So, its ashtray lid time.
Its crap photo time! Bloody phones.
As you probably remember, the ash tray lid was in the boot
YAA3VTr.jpg

It looks as if the lid was removed from the top by twisting and pulling!! As some of you may know, it can onbly be removed from underneath, with the whole assembly removed from the car
These 3 bits had broken off
nFNkr11.jpg

Here it is removed and broken down into its component parts
UqXoY2J.jpg

And now its repaired and back together! Just missing the ashtray. HOW THE HELL can an ashtray go missing! HOW? Tell me? Bloody irritating I can tell ya. Anybody got one?

I would look for the cupholder inside the vent.

its attached with like a single screw and I pushed mine into the vent one time.

Well, well, well. I cant believe it! nightyard was right! It WAS inside the dash! Exactly as he said! What a star!

Rescued it, and one of the runners had broken off, but I found that as well inside the dash!

Another crap photo
HAA3SU1.jpg

So, plastic weldedthat back on and used Q bond the furter secure it.

It had broken here
o1rt4Ca.jpg

So, complete stripdown (again) and repaired the broken bit and reassembled

May have saved myself some money!! Until my clear boot light!!

Lovin this thread - do you never sleep! :D :D

Hi obewan.
Funny you should say that! I dont! I go to bed about midnight, wake up at 4, then thats it! So I go downstairs, do my online courses "engine management system diagnostics" then I go to my workshop......

Andy.

I was waiting for this very post 8)

The suspense was actually killing me to find out if it was or not.
