Which obd cable and örogram should i get to do some simple changes on my e85 -03.
Want to change lights, locks etc.
Cheap an working;)
Dont like the yearly cost on carly.
 
Yes get the one with the switch (FT232RQ chip).
Set the switch all the way to one side for KKL mode (e46/e85) and to the other side for DCAN (e89)

And get yourself a version of bmw standard tools with NCSexpert or/and NCSdummy and the spdatens files and start reading tutorials on how to install them. Be sure that when you use the bmw coding tool v250 to update the sp daten files (imho the easiest method), the sp daten files are not set to read only.

Preferably use a 32 bit OS for this software.

And donwload BMW ISTAD and ISTAP.

This is all pirated software so dont ask where to get it.

i need to do much the same things and my scan tool wont handle that. i can read all the data, do service stuff, keys etc, but not change many of the "options" like you mentioned. BUT, how do you use this gadget..surely there is some BMW specific software program thats needed???

Or try to get to a meet, as people often take them - there were 2 forum members who had it at the Ace Café meet on Saturday.
