Programming Windows?

Hi all,

Is it possible to programme the keyfob to open the windows? ideally just the drivers? I'm sure you can with the 1 Series so imagine you can with E89? Would be useful for me when parking.

Cheers,

Tim.

You can with the E85, if programmed, press the remote unlock twice and when you open the door it drops the windows all the way to make getting in easier, and then raises fully once in.

Would think they would have kept this with the E89.

Convenience opening IIRC

Thanks for the reply, I did try this earlier tonight, pressed unlock twice but nothing happened and opened the door but window stayed put :?

I've done this on my car, so it can be done, but you have to open the door for it to happen. It seems random to me, so perhaps need to perfect the double button press.

Cheers Kevin, will give it another go, if it doesn't work will mention it to the dealer when it goes in next Wednesday,

I think it does the passenger door also if opened. Not sure it goes all the way down, or just, say 2 thirds, and goes back up when you close the door.

On cars with idrive (mine) you can choose a comfort access option which when double clicking unlock on the fob lowers the window fully on opening the door. U must be able to do the same on a non idrive car?

Cheers Maniac, will see what the dealer says although they might not know themselves :?

 +1

If I double click open the driver and passenger windows will drop fully on door opening and close when the door is closed. This will still also happen while either door is open. I also have the smartop so can drop all four windows with the remote. Rather annoyingly though upon entering the car the drivers window will then close.

Cheers Dexter, I will have another look over the weekend, Zed is tucked up in the garage today  rain has stopped play

According to my dealer this cannot be done , a double click will cause the drivers side windown to drop 3/4 when door is opened but it closes when door is shut

On our car (and presumably all of them) if you hold down the unlock button, it will lower the roof. The first part of the cycle is to lower all the windows.

Does that throw a roof error when you do that? Ie when you get in the car is the roof light flashing?

Answer: It depends.

If you release the unlock button as soon as the windows start to lower, the windows open all the way. The roof error light does not flash.

If you wait until the windows are most of the way down, the rear section of the top unlatches. Then the red error light does flash. Have to turn on the car and push the roof close button to turn it off.

Unfortunately I don't have comfort access as I was too mean when speccing :D

Aready tried holding the open button down and releasing but all that does is commence with roof down and if you let go it will just stop the operation in mid flight.

I don't quite get if you press the open button twice it drops the windows by 2 inches, whats the point in that. although when I tried nothing happened anyways. I would imagine there is a way of programming the fob to just open gthe windows and not the roof.

I don't have the full "comfort opening" package, however there is a "comfort access" option in the door locks section of the idrive vehicle settings & it always perplexed me.
If you double click the open locks button, the window will drop 3/4 of the way when you open the door (rather than the 2" standard drop) then close when you close the door.

I also have the smart top module, which allows other features, but i believe the comfort access is standard (at least on iDrive cars)
