Programming of electric seat- to door key

Hi,
I have recently swapped my cloth seats to electric memory leather. (Anyone wants cloth seats and matching door cards). Looking through the owners manual, it appears that the seats can be programmed to the door key, i.e seats will move into memory position to match my key when door is opened, shuld my wife has moved the seat to suit her.

Does anyone know how to proramme this, rather than take it to BMW.

One of the options to switch on by coding the car at BMW or an indy.

Called 'seat adjustment after unlocking with key fob'.

Glad I read this. I figured that this could be done as I've got it on my 5er. Another thing to add to the list of coding when my car goes in...

I got mine done on my main key to go to memory seat 1 position... However its hit and miss and sometimes the seat doesnt move...

Its like using the memory seat buttons... Sometime i can press the button on them, other times i have to press and hold... Never worded out why though.

To do with key or drivers door position. As soon as key in I think you have to hold button, I guess to prevent you from crushing against steering wheel if a big person with small person settings. Whereas when key out it will do it as no risk you are driving.

Then you have a fault. My keys have moved the car back and forth to mine and MrsCJ's different seat positions faultlessly for more than 5 years.

Have you correctly put the settings in seat memory and use the appropriate key?

Just need to reset if some mechanic moves the seat with the key in e ignition as it detects that change.

Shows fine on my PC. Perhaps it's time to ditch the iPhone and replace it with something that actually works?!

If the key is out, or in Position 1, then a single touch on the memory button will move the seat to that position. If the key is in Position 0 or 2, then you have to press and hold. This is a safety feature in case you accidentally press the button while the car is moving. It's covered in the Seat Memory section of the Owner's Manual for Vehicle (Pages 32/33 in my on-line version).

Hi, thanks for the feeback. I'll enquire at BMW for a price. Will decide whether to bother depending on the price
