Hi all.
Here is my 1st post in this forum.. I've read loads but never posted so here goes.
I have a 2003 Z4 E85 2.5
I've had an Satellite B pillar Left airbag module fault, so I have brought another unit and fitted it ( It's very easy to locate and fit if anyone needs to know). I then connected my Snap on Solus Pro scanner to check and clear any codes, and the airbag light goes out.. So I guess that means the replacement module working is ok.. Obviously as soon as the ignition is switched off and on again the Airbag light remains lit as the replacement module will now need programming/coding to the car. Incidentally after switching the ignition off and back on the fault code is simply 'incorrect VIN'. Which makes sense as the module needs to be paired up to the car. Prior to fitting the replacement module it was throwing up codes that related to the SBSL module.
Now heres where I am struggling.
I have attempted to programme the module using SSS Progman. It goes though all the progress as listed below.
The vehicle order (VO) is being determined.
Then it states 'Before starting vehicle programming please ensure that the basic requirements for error free programming are satisfied. See programme user documentation 'Preperation of vehicle programming'.
I assume this is to make sure it has 13+ volts constantly and any error codes are cleared out...I have the correct voltage as have a charger connected and the volts can be seen in the display at all times and mine never drops below 13.6v and I cleared any fault codes in the module prior to this procedure.
Then SSS Progman makes its connection and displays the VIN and model E85 in the top window.
I then get program options listed below.
1 End Progman session
2 Load software;
*control units coding/programming and conversion retrofit
3 Car & key memory (CKM);
*Vehicle individualisation
4 Vehicle
*Display/adaptthe vehicle order, read out vehicle context again and complete coding
5 Management
*Display/print previous status reports, application data and information on diagnosis
SO I select option 2
2 Load software;
*control units coding/programming and conversion retrofit..
It then asks, 'Have control units been replaced on this car'.
for retro fits press no..
So I press yes.
it then states that 'fitted control units are being determined' and then asks you to 'select the control unit that has been replaced'.
Mine is the SBSL module. So I tick that.
It then asks to 'determine and enter the 7 digit part number of programmed SBSL control unit'.
Now I can only see one 7 digit part number on either of the 2 control units I have, and that is part number 6928571 it is on both modules, my old unit and the replacement one. SO I enter that..
Then it asks me to 'Determine and enter the 7 digit part number of removed basic SBSL control unit'.
So again I enter 6928571 as that is the only 7 digit part number I can find.
It then states. 'The measures plan is being determined'.
The next section brings up a measures plan. it reads like this..
Date/Time 21.01.2020 / 17.09
Model Series E85
Vehicle Ident No WBABT32070LR40385
Vehicle order; E85_#0303*BT32%0354&LASW|7531869$224$230
$255$302$354$380$399$423$428$431$441$459
$494$520$534$550$662$692$704$812$818$853
$863$877$880$925-STVX
1 program SBSL Old part No of progr. ECU 6928571
New part No. of progr. ECU 6948087 ( SO it has changed that as I put 6928571)?
The next option is to accept..So I do.
Then it states 'The CKM values are being saved'
It tells you 'this will take approx 4 minutes to do'..
Ive let mine sit for half an hour at this stage and I'm just getting the timer going round and round on the screen....in the end I have to end the process..
If there is anyone that has taken the time to read this and can offer any ideas what is going on I very much appreciate any input..
All the very best to you all.
