Program about German car manufacturing.

Anyone see the program about German car manufacturing last Sunday after Top Gear.
Commentator mentioned a survey about cars, people ranking top cars Volkswagen, Audi, Mercedes...no mention of BMW?
Always thought;
Volkswagen..the car you buy with your own money.
Audi...the trendy sales exec
Bmw...middle management
Merc...the boss.

So were does that put the Zed?
 
Good program. Having worked in and around the automotive manufacturing industry in the UK since leaving school, I can fully agree on that programs points why it failed and Germany's didn't!! :|
 
I grew up in Oxford in an area where most people worked at the Cowley plant so I was surrounded in the 70's and 80's
by Allegros, Marinas and other terrible cars.
I went on an exchange when I was 12 in 1985 to Germany and my host family had a BMW 525e. It was like a spaceship compared to the crap we made over here.
The nationalization of the motor industry destroyed the competition within the British car industry so they all went down together.
Lets not forget Sir Alec Issigonis also gave us the Maxi as well as the Mini. Genius or one off wonder?
 
When I think of the British car crap I had to endure for so many years, I'm extremely glad proper cars eventually found their way to our shores. Just a crying shame we can and do now produce good cars albeit for foreign lords and masters.
