I have the Prof Sat Nav in my 2007 Z4, its running the 2007 version. I want to upgrade to the 2009-1, but can I use the High type, which is for Mk4 version, or is mine a Mk 1 to 3.
thanx

The DVD you need is the 'HIGH' one for the Mk4 system you have.

The 'professional' part of the sat-nav description is just there to make it seem like a professional-quality system, and thus justify the price :P

There was a Business SatNav available for the Z4 that used a small screen in the headunit only seen it once or twice though.

Take your disk to the dealer and they usually have an offer on to trade it (or any old genuine map disc) to the latest disc, for £100.
Expensive of course but that's BMW.

Yes, there was!

And that was about as 'business' oriented as the 'professional' is professional-oriented :P

I'd expect a 'professional' system to warn of speed cameras, unmarked police cars and corner guides for all the major circuits around the world - otherwise what use is it to a professional driver

Mine warns of speed cameras

I have just update the firmware with a modded one to give a warning sound when approaching speed camera, cars going into garage tomorrow though so wont see it for a week or two  so dont know if it works yet.

I'd be interested in adding this to mine. Where did you source it?

Also have modded Nav, such an improvement! UK postcodes and Cameras : ).

PM me if you want details.

Thanks, but I've got the cameras on mine, it's the audible warning I'd like.

One thing to make clear to keep the Boss happy :) you need to mod your original Map Disk to include cameras I used software from pimp-my-nav.com

The modded firmware file is available from http://www.megaupload.com/?d=WVHQI53A

This is also modded with sky, pointers and splash, It has fully patched navboot and custom sound, "hi-beep, lo-beep, speed camera ahead".

It is also a update disc 10.01 so it will update over any OEM version number.

Please note I haven had chance to test yet and accept no responsiblity if it screws up your nav.

For further info you can visit http://www.x5world.com/navigation-system/57326-poison.html

Have Fun :D

Map disk needs to be modified also don't forget - needs to be a specifically modded map dvd for the POISon update.

Works well though!

(except I have a traffic light camera within 300yds of my house so it beeps far too much. will remove this from the db pretty soon)

if anyone's coming to the breakfast meet I'm tempted to bring some dvds in case anyone wants a go.

I too have the modded system, very similar to Andy :)
It's great to be able to have an audible warning of cameras, although they operate on proximity rather than the route you are on, but best to have too many than no warnings. Of course it's only as good as how recent the update is, but in my experience many of the mobile locations are well known and I'm seeing fewer new cameras springing up. Saved me already on a trip to Sheffield and the Peak

Just remember guys on the board, OEM map discs only, which you source from BMW. The OS system is less trouble to swap, mod and exchange.

I am coming to the breakfest meet and would be interested, went into Synter Leices and they wanted £199 for the trade in price and £249 for a new one, currently run on the 06 disc. Have to admit only had the car a month and not fully aware of what features this sat nav has, worked out the basics, so really would be interested in what i can make it do.

Think i will have a ring around and see what the dealers can do me on the new updated version, need a good dealer in the east mids area ideally?

Mine was only £99 to upgrade from a 2007-2 disc to a 2009-01 disc.

It may be worth watching ebay for genuine versions that are newer than yours - doesn't have to be a 2009-01 one, maybe a 2008-01/02 one will suffice.

I have this problem with POIson. I get a warning for the same camera about 4 times each morning and night :x . Have tried to remove it from the DB file by locating the co-ordinates in google maps, but cant find a camera with these co-ordinates. Be interested to know if anyone else has managed to remove one from the DB?

Can someone sort a new map disc etc out for me for a small fee?

As in burn me a copy of yours ;)

Thanks,

Jack

Jack - Please don't post such requests or discussion on the board, else the forum will have problems
