professional stereo upgrade

My stereo is the 6 speaker set up at a guess. 2013 28i. Proffesional stereo.Playing usb is far too quiet on most tracks. Sound is not the best either. What is my best option for a decent sounding stereo. A stealth sub perhaps. ? Could an amp with speaker updrade be the answer? Would I be able to keep head unit? What sort of costs are we talking to updrade to bmw hifi system and is it worth it.

Thanks looks like just what I am looking for. Better start saving. I suppose tyres should be first on my list but stereo and a remap look very tempting.
 
I have fitted mini cooper mid range speakers and bmw tweeters . This has made an improvement. Does the standard 6 speaker system have a sub? There is some pretty good bass on some tracks. Having dedicated tweeters is a must . Perhaps one day I will go Focal speakers all round with amp and processor.
