I have not reconnected the small cable that originally went to the aux and usb socket (pictured in earlier post above) in the arm rest. I thought the cable I ordered online was to replace that one. Thanks for all your help Dave.

Have you got any photos of what you have and where it goes?

Got it working (well the usb stick with mp3s) connected the original aux cable under the armrest and ran the new USB cable to the new head unit. Full control from the steering wheel, sounds great. Thanks for all the help.
