Productive weekend for me :-D

It was highlighted after my MOT that my rear brakes were about 95% worn (both pads and discs) so me being the defiant engineering type shouted NO THOU SHALL NOT CHARGE ME A RIDICULOUS SUM OF MONEY, I'LL DO IT MYSELF  . (Actually it was more of a "will it pass the MOT?" "Yes Sir" "OK, I shall do it myself later, but thank you for letting me know" :| )

With that in mind I purchased the parts from eurocarparts to which they arrived and I changed them this weekend. Wasn't a fan of finding the handbrake shoes being an absolute git to get loose though! Took me ages until I realised I'd got a small wide flat head screw driver in my tool box which worked a treat!

Now the more unique part of this weekend was today.... I purchased a set of silver MFSW switches from ebay this week as, with a lot of other people, the rubberdised paint had started to look work and tatty and managed to pip someone to the post from this very forum  . Very happy with the outcome (photo doesn't do it justice, although it looks good to me) of the left and right...Just need to get the bottom spoke done now, which can happen next weekend. :driving:

Anyone else done anything like that? I've not seen it, but always thought it would look good.

Oh and one more thing to add....this is the //M sport steering wheel as well...So I think it'll be a pretty unique part of the car :driving:

Happy motoring people :D

Nice idea with the silver switches...

...do you have the silver/aluminium dash inserts?

Can we see a pic of the wider dash area to see how it all looks together??

Thanks!
Si

i'd jusy been thinking to myself the other day about the possibility of wrapping that part of the switch

Hi, believe that was me ;0)

I was a bit worried that the buttons wouldn't come with all the bits required to fit...worth a punt either way.

Loving the CF & glad they went to a forum member.

Hi All.... thanks for the comments :)

Yes I do have brush alu dash inserts... I haven't got a full pic yet because I haven't done the bottom spoke yet and I need to buy a new //M badge for it. So it's got a little bit of work yet to come for that. I shall update appropriately in time :).

My full intention is to do quite bit of work in a few phases....

Phase 1 - Carbon wrap steering wheel.
Phase 2 - Carbon wrap the black plastic from the gear stick to the hand brake.
Phase 3 - buy spare handbrake and gear stick gaiters (cheap copies will do), buy some alcantara and copy the pattern for both.

I did wonder whether to clear coat the steering wheel wrap to be honest to create the proper impression of carbon fibre...but to be honest I don't think it'll work that well and also I quite like the work I did already and don't want to risk ruining it.

Watch this space people :driving:
