Google returned the attached in response to a request for UK production volumes of the 35is - 465 units registered between 2010 - 2019. Do we agree or disagree?

Google AI hallucinates like crazy so it's between suspect and bollox. At best it's data from HowManyLeft (noted for variability at the best of times), at worst it's making it up.

I was after some readily available data that's been on the internet for 30 years that I know fairly well and just needed to check. Similar 2 column format but text instead of numbers (Sequential production code, Title) and Google rejigged the first column so it was both wrong and out of sync with the second.

Info from that table is exactly what 'how many left' says. Including the slightly weird 1x from 2019.

Apparently derived from DVLA data, so likely about as accurate as you will find online IMHO.

Interestingly the newer shape top of the range z4 m40i was 5x more popular - over 2,000 sold. Wouldn't have thought that was the case.

Also way more e85 z4m's out there than I thought - just over 1000 (half of them SORN).

It's a fun site.

I wonder if bmw customer services would provide this info. Strange to see one apparently registered in 2019 about 3 years after they went off sale.

It happens they turn up in dealer fully paid stock - Ive seen product sitting in compound for 4 years before being registered. I recall Honda found a load of Honda Legends in dock stock long after they were discontinued. Also remember a car in the late 80's that had been sitting for so long that the interior was bleached and crumbled - needed completely replacing!! Not to mention the ones that rabbits have eaten the wiring and those that were full of sand and looked like they had fallen in the sea!!

It's either finger trouble over at the DVLA or a dealer demonstrator that got stuck in a corner after production ceased and forgotten about. There's always been late registered vehicles - M-plate Novas in the 90s when they finished on K-plate for example - they're just the detritus of systems that aren't as tidy as people think they should be. BMW would have no idea about it unless you gave them reg and VIN - and then they would only say that, yes, it was registered in 2019 but wouldn't have a clue why. Assuming it's not a phantom, the reality will be a lot less interesting that the mystery suggests.

400ish is always what I understood the figure to be.

I'd guess the G29 M40i sold a lot more because it's got "M" in the name, or perhaps less price difference between M40i and 30i G29 compared to 35is and 28i? Or running costs of the M40i closer to 30i than 35is was to 28i.
