Production end for the UK G29

Always hard with what you want. So few "cars" these days, so many suv's...especially so electric. Z4's always been close to boxster/cayman at new list but fantastic value at used or nearly new. Sad news g89 ending...but who knows maybe a z5 on the way. Love optimism me!

I don’t care how fast an EV can accelerate, they are have no soul, no character, or thrilling engine and exhaust note. Just no joy of life in them, no matter how much tech they have. Thats why my 5 year old is staying with us. I’m fortunate it’s not a daily driver, and has covered just under 10,000 miles, so should be good to last long after the last Zed rolls off the production line.

Oh, and on new cars all that nanny state of EU nonsense like in-car breathalysers that’s coming here and all the rest of it will further kill the joy of motoring.

Just seen earlier post...what if the Supra had been a BMW Z4 coupe.....probably alot more sold, including here. Look closely, soooooo close.
I hate to say it, but as a serial Coupe owner a manual Supra might even tempt me to buy my first Toyota - but then we all know it's all BMW under the skin!

The GR Supras hold their value exceptionally well, their values are actually going up, I've had 2 now, first ine was the Auto and then the manual for a year, both I resold for more than I paid for them, the manual ones tend to be the more sought after and a lot rarer than the Auto

For info..end of a relationship…

❗️Toyota is officially cutting ties with BMW for the next-generation Supra, marking the end of a joint-development era that began with the A90 model. Since its 2019 launch, the GR Supra has shared its platform, engine, and even production line with the BMW Z4, powered by BMW’s B58 inline-six. While the collaboration delivered strong performance, it also faced criticism from enthusiasts who felt the car lacked a true Toyota identity.

Looking ahead, Toyota plans to build the next Supra completely in-house, debuting around 2027 with a new 2.0-liter turbocharged hybrid engine developed by Toyota’s own performance division. This engine is expected to produce around 400 horsepower, blending traditional combustion with modern hybrid assistance for stronger torque and improved efficiency. It represents a shift toward carbon neutral performance while reclaiming full design and engineering control.

This move signals a deeper commitment to Toyota’s Gazoo Racing brand and reflects the company’s evolving strategy toward electrified performance. By shedding BMW’s influence, Toyota aims to redefine the Supra as a purist’s car again, one that embodies its motorsport roots, future-focused technology, and unmistakably Japanese engineering.

yup, meanwhile BMW are nailing the middle-aged sales-rep market!

No more G29's and possibly the end of the Z4, here's a little song to cheer you all up

Sanremo Green and Black seats

To tall for an Mx5, looking forward to being comfortable!

Many others getting one in 2026? Anyone got a figure on how many manuals in the UK?

That’s fantastic! Do you mind me asking which dealer you found with a slot? I’m looking for the same.

I’m trying to decide between SanRemo and Frozen Green too - decisions, decisions!

Exeter BMW, they didn’t have a manual build slot. Build slot swap, with one of there dealers up north.

There’s a handful of Frozen green manuals on Auto Trader ex press cars.

Let us know how you get on
