Production end for the UK G29

It's happening throughout the car industry. Niche ICE cars being axed in favour of ever larger and more profitable electric SUVs.

By 2030 the only unusual cars available to buy will be Chinese, electric, with their questionable quality control, and still cost a fortune. Which will make the Chinese economy stronger and therefore make China more powerful than ever.

Ford have axed the 'hot hatch' in ICE form. The Focus ST is no longer available. The Hyundai 'Ns' in ICE form are gone.

I will put money on Honda stopping the Type R very soon (as they are so expensive now anyway).

It's sad motoring times we now live in.....all so politicians can pretend they are forcing us to 'save the planet'. It will take more than cars with a washing machine motor to do that (but that is not what their remit is).

You can't even blame the manufacturers; they have been given goals by Governments which they must reach (or else), so have ploughed millions into R&D for the EV fiasco. You can't blame them for wanting a return sometime soon.

When I ordered my Z4 in January, I was talking the the salesman with regards to a replacement Z4, his take on it was the current Z4 platform can't take an EV option easily/ He also said Porsche were having a lot of trouble electrifying the 718.

If the Z4 does return it will be some kind of hybrid/full electric. Which turns me straight off.

The next m3/m4 is going to be full electric.

It’s one of the reasons my M40 has become a keeper and I’ll use something else for my daily commute.

Goodbye to the only car in the current bmw line up that I would actually buy!
Dont get me started on BMWs decline in design over the last few years.
Very sad, but at least we can purchase used cars from the peak years of bmw.

I'm sure I read recently that sales of convertibles in the UK had declined, but maybe that's because there aren't too many to chose from?

Slightly off-topic but I wonder what the situation is for the Supra.

I posted a link about it above

Toyota have confirmed end of production spring 2026 with some outgoing ‘specials’…..in another world I’d have to loved to have one..yellow of course!🧐👍😂

Guess it coming to prime time to buy a Z4… to drive around amongst all the Porsche Boxster and 911 owners for the next decade lol!

Widely expected, worldwide sales of convertibles is very low, as for driving being fun that’s coming to an end in any case with all the safety features that will not allow any kind of spirited driving, big brother will control everything we can do.

They stopped selling new GR Supras at the end of 2023 in the UK, I had one of the last models the manual Special edition. You can still buy new ones in the states upto 2026 with the 382 bhp version

So sad, but there was a few year gap between the e89 and the g29 so maybe there is some plan in the works that isn’t public.

Wonder how this will affect used prices? The e89 didn’t hold value particularly well until the middle of covid when car prices shot up.

I would suspect that all used cars will increase in price as buyers boycott the new EV tanks with all those annoying driving aids and things to slow you down in favour of the used ICE cars.

I think that’s quite likely if no new cars are available well maintained cars will hold value better, not quite the same but convertible 4 seaters is an option many will take
