Product to polish wheels??

I'll be detailing the car this weekend as it looks to be a nice and sunny one! :)

Can you / should you polish your wheels? If so, then can I use the same product I use for the body?

Cheers,
Pedram

I just use the same wax as on my bodywork - Collinte #476 at the moment. Seems to be holding up OK.

I actually bought some "Rimwax" - purple stuff in a blue tub - and wasn't impressed with it at all, hence just using the Collinite.

SNAP - got some Rimwax but now use the same as I do for the bodywork (Raceglaze 55)

Thanks for the quick replies.

Well I'm about to order CG Wheel Guard (with some other stuff), but I was after something specifically for just polishing it.

Ah, I can't say I've felt the need to actually polish my wheels - that's OCD to a new level . But if I did I'd just use the same polish as I do on painted bodywork. I guess the lacquer on alloys will be tougher stuff than on the paintwork, so something more abrasive might be required perhaps. The only polish I use is AG SRP but I've not touched the wheels with it.

AG SRP followed by 3 coats of EGP leaves a nice glossy wheel and you could top that off with a wheel wax.

This is supposed to be the nuts on wheels http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/sealants/chemical-guys-jet-seal-109/prod_484.html

Isn't AG SRP the same thing as SRP (you make it sound like two different products)? :?

AG srp followed by a true wheel sealant is all ive ever advised.
Ive tried using various other waxes but the durability is far less than a high temperature product as the wheels obviously get very hot.
If you were to try fk1000p for your cars paint then I would suggest the same product for wheels as that is a true high temp paste wax sealant, very durable.

Strangely, I've got a tub of Finish Kare 1000P I used on my van (might be finished now) and had used it on my old 108 alloys...

DOH   As said above i meant EGP

I've been using planet polish wheel seal n shine. Seems to work well and easy to apply. Lasts for about 3-4 months.

As a result of reading this thread, my wheels are going to get some AG SRP and EGP this morning - this bit of the forum should come with a warning!

Two down, two to go. Hard work but strangely satisfying, definitely worth the effort.

My neighbour has just cleaned two cars in the time I've taken doing the wheels.
