Proclip Ipod Cradle Installed

In one of my other posts, I talked about getting away from the cables/cords I use for my Ipod. Plus I wanted to be able to charge the device while it is in the car.
I now have all the pieces/parts and they work beautifully.. Just plug the Ipod in and pull it out when you are finished......

Here is the Proclip cradle for use with the standard Ipod (5G Video) connector. Felt lined, swivel mount and the round egg drop looking thing is the spring piece that holds the Ipod snugly in the cradle.

Here is the cable I needed. Bought from Ebay. Power plug, Aux 3.5mm connector and the Ipod connector. The yellow RCA plug is for video, which I will not need.

I bolted the Proclip cradle to an existing mount, but you could just mount the Proclip mount directly to the car for more hand room.
The placement currently, allows me to change tunes without having to take my hands off the wheel or my eyes off the road (much). It also does not interfere with using the wiper stock.

I pulled the female Aux socket from the dash access plate and all cables run internal to the dash. I then put a power plug Y splitter on so both the Ipod and GPS has power when the key is turned on. The original power I had installed is connected to the fuse block and all power cables are in the glove box. It it too small for anything else. I may move these to behind the dash at a later date.

I also plan on putting a 3.5mm splitter from the AUX connection that is now behind the dash to the original hole in the under dash access plate and the Ipod. This is for extra crap that I want to play through the stereo.

All this took about 45 minutes to install...

What's with the flock finish? Here in the UK the scum will steal anything that isn't bolted down, so my iPod resides in the centre cubby hole between the seats, where the DVD NAV goes.

I always pull the Ipod and GPS off their mounts and put them in the storage compartment. The GPS was easy. The ipod was a pain the the cables and all.

Now all I have to do is pull the Ipod out of the cradle and store it... Plus it gets charged when in use now...

Yeah but here in the UK, scum will see the mount and smash the window to find the Ipod and GPS in the storage compartment. When they discover you've taken them away in your coat pocket, well, the window is still smashed.
