Problems with opening my hood following a new motor

Hi all
I'm new to this site but not new to Z4 ownership! I've had mine for about 2 years now. It's a 2005 2.0SE model. It's been great so far apart from having to change things like the discs and pads, having the wheels refurbed etc.
It was only when I went to put my roof down for the first time this year that I was faced with the dreaded, almost inevitable issue of realising that my roof motor has been swimming in 3 inches of water for most of the winter!!

I have had the motor replaced at a cost of £600 including labour which I'm not sure if that's a reasonable price?(!) Anyway, the motor is now very noisy and a bit tempremental! I have to press and hold the roof off button whilst the from poins unlock from the front screen and then wait for the hood to eventually retract. Prior to the old motor taking a swim, this was a pretty seamless action. There are actually times when I have to press the roof off button and nothing happens so I lock the roof and then on the second or third go, the roof will eventually retract.

it's almost as though the system needs to be bled of an airlock or something like that?? Once the hood has been successfully activated it will continue to go on and off whithout any issues apart from, it is much noiseier than it was before.

Has anyone else had similar issues or can you advise what you think this could be??

Many thanks
Kev

Could one of the moderators please move this to the E85 area please.

As far as I know the roof motor is hydraulic so it may need bleeding and topped up with appropriate oil, as if the pump was cavitating that would make the motor more noisy. Hopefully someone with more knowledge of the roof pump workings can assist.

Oh my, that does not sound good. :( If it was working fine last autumn, the hydraulics shouldn't need to be topped off or re-bled, unless there was a leak in a connection somewhere. Either way, looks like a second hood removal is in your future. I hope I'm wrong and somebody has a better idea. Good luck, mate. Excuse me while I go check my drains again!
