Problems with door handle led lights

Guys and gals

Seem to have a new problem with the under door handle LEDs going to ambient mode after I lock up but then they stay on permanently! Any ideas? Now I am getting an intermittent amber battery light when car is off and I am on the iDrive. I am assuming this is related to the lights staying on all night... Have trawled the forums but don't see to find this issue with other owners so hopefully one of you has a bright idea.

2011 e89 3.0i roadster aka I love my car...

When you say door handle LEDs - do you mean the orange/red LEDs inside the car, or the white LEDs on the outside door handles?

Hi supersebbo - The white LED under the door handles (exterior) - seems very weird. I can't find any similar symptoms on any of the forums - even weirder!

Sorry forgot to add - both passenger and driver's side stay on....but no other lights e.g.no footwell or interior lighting...

Yes rang the stealer today and booked it in but of course no guarantees they will cover it under the warranty. Not yet anyway.
Just thought maybe there was an easy fix. Hey ho..

Problem is that I am also getting an amber battery light when car is off and I am fiddling with iDrive or have the interior lights on. Am hoping that relates to the door light issue draining the battery.

Interestingly 2 weeks ago had it in to replace rear indicator Led which had blown...don't think it is connected though as this is a new fault from yesterday.

I'd take the bulb out, you've replaced. It takes minutes and may save you time and money. Then see if the fault has disappeared. It's highly unlikely but I've seen some strange things with lights on modern motors.

Thanks but the rear indicator Led had to be fitted by stealers inc. I think they have to replace the whole rear unit. Gotta love new technology. Gone are the days of simple bulb replacements. Good idea though...
