Problems installing Eibach springs....any advice??

Hi All,

Decided today was the day to install my Eibach lowering springs.

Rears, took 15 mins a side, no issue.

Front passenger side was OK, although a bit stubborn but its done.

Drivers side. On the drivers side I can't undo the bolts that hold the strut to the hub. I've put some plusgas on but to no effect, and I can't get my air gun in behind the hub to get them out. Has anybody any suggestions?? My car currently looks a bit like a wonky donkey!!

Thanks!

Steve

Thanks for that....I've coated it in oil and put it back in the garage. I'll have another go tomorrow.

I'm wondering if, should it come to it, I can take the whole strut/hub out in one piece, and leave the calliper/ABS sensor behind.

I'll see what tomorrow brings!!!

Thanks again!

I've not done this job as yet - but is there any way you can get some heat onto it? If all else fails... a small household blowtorch usually sorts out really stubborn bolts.

I could get a blowtorch on it, I'm just aware that its very close to the ABS sensor, but if I take it all out with the hub then heat will be the way I'll be going!!!

I used a little bit of WD and left them a few minutes before removing, hopefully you'll have better luck tomorrow

If there's access, I use a length of steel tube slipped onto the socket lever to give me a lever arm of at least 2feet on stiff bolts after soaking with WD40 or diesel fuel and heating with a torch if really stiff. When you refit, if you don't use new bolts, use some Threadlok and torque these bolts tight because they tend to work slightly loose and can cause a bit of a rattle.

You might find that your sockets will fit onto one of those telescopic wheel nut socket arms, which might also help.

So, Finished the job off today.

The answer was obvious in the end, and I was being a halfwit. I hadn't turned the wheel full lock so I could use my breaker bar. I don't know why I didn't, I've changed suspension on cars so many times......so there you go!!

Thanks for all the suggestions.

Steve
