Problems caused by Gruppe M airfilter

Hi.
Am asking if anybody has or heard of the Gruppe M air filter fouling the air mass sensor. The helpful guys at DMS pointed out the oil from the wet filter can cause signal problems. The car goes into the dealer tomorrow and can imagine the feedback when he clocks the lump of non BMW airfilter.
Until I see what fault codes are showing I can only guess but any info much appreciated.

I have the Gruppe on mine and have been running it for the past two years , and have had no problems at all. should you want to go back to the oem filter box it is easy to do. all I can say is I'm not going back . The Gruppe is this best bang for the buck you can add

I remember when I had a straight through (no cats or silencers) system on my old M5. It sounded like I had 100bhp more than I did :fuelfire:

Really? you see any gains fella?

I have noticed some gains especially in second and third. been good to me,and I have had no problems with water in the filter.

Have learnt the filters are fine when new as the correct amount of oil is on the filter. If later cleaned and to much oil is left on the element problems can arrise. My poor running was down to the pre cat sensors failing - now sorted and no charge( Fawdingtons of Newcastle top notch service as usual)

The filter works well with the flash tune and the Supersprint exhaust but on it's own not so sure thats a lot of cash for couple of BHP and a wee bit of extra noise.

Now find my z4mc is on the pace of my frinds e46 csl - just.

Newbie posting here, but I think I may have something to add....

During my Impreza ownership I had heard of several folk who replaced their standard filters with the oiled variety. If the filters are carrying a touch too much oil, it will indeed cause MAF issues on the Impreza, so I'm thinking similar logic would indeed apply to a similarly oiled filter on any car, including a Z4M.

I ran a very lightly oiled cotton filter and had no issues, but can see how easy it would be for problems to arise.

Hope that helps a touch. :)
