Problem with ZHP shift knob

hey you guys! :)

I bought a ZHP knob a couple of months ago. I ended up finding my original Z4 shifter and for giggles I put it back on. I realized that it easily "clicked" into place when pushing it down--which would require some force to pull it off.

Now, that also made me notice how loose my ZHP knob is. I push it down but there's no "click" or any reassuring sound that it's locked into place. I pushed a bit harder but nothing because I'm afraid of breaking/ruining the manual components underneath the shift boot. It also doesn't completely cover the tip of the shift boot--there's like a half inch gap. It makes me a bit nervous driving around with the ZHP knob because i can pull it clean off with barely any force.

Help? :(

Just slam it down a few times, it will stick, thats what happened with me, just put a cloth over it and knock it gently with a hammer, the type with the soft end :) if doesnt work, pop some adhesive on it

thanks for the advice guys :)

I believe it's too late to return it at this point--I just figured it wouldn't pop in like that but I've been told otherwise.

There's no damage if I use a lot of force to get it to click right?

as long as you ensure you press down reasonably hard tapping vertically you should be fine. Mine felt loose, then i knocked it down a bit and it stuck :)

Do you have it aligned properly with the slot?

The 1st ZHP I had on my M roady was a problem getting it down into the alignment slot.
Twisted it back & forth a bit as I pushed down & it went the rest of the way.

I just installed one in my M Coupe last week & it 'clicked' in no problem.
So, there may be some variance in manufacturing tolerances.
